i too have a phobia of vomiting, and when the nausea does occur, that just adds to the stress even more. i have also never really thrown up, but im so worried i will one of these times. I have missed social events with friends, classes, and other things due to this nausea problem. Im not sure what to do and it is really frustrating to have this going on. my gastroenterologist said to take 2 tablets of prilosec each day, and take fiber powder. he said it would "clean out my system", and help get things back on track. Im going to try that and see if that works. Ive also been told to try and nibble on dry crackers, toast, ect. but when you feel like you are going to throw up the last thing i want to do is eat anything! hope you start to feel better soon :)
Im sorry to hear that you are suffering like this. I too have been suffering from severe nausea for the past 18 months. After various tests all theyve discovered is that Ive got gastritis. Ive been on lansoprazole and domperidone this whole time but its hit and miss as to whether it helps. Ive tried avomine travel sickness tablets which does help a bit. I also suffer from a phobia about vomiting which of course increases the distress I experience when the nausea is severe, so far I havent been sick but its a constant worry that I will. I know this fear just adds to the nausea but theres nothing I can do except try to take my mind off my situation - not easy as Im sure you are aware! Its greatly affected my life, I dont work and rarely go out of the house because Im afraid another 'episode' will occur. A nurse told me to nibble on dry crackers to ease the nausea but its not easy to nibble on anything when you feel like throwing up!
I've found that sucking on sugar candies helps my nausea. I found out that I had gastroparesis was causing my nausea which you might want to look into.
