Lump at armpit

Hi, I am 36 yrs old and a mother of 3 kids. 3 weeks ago I discovered 1 pea sized lump at my left armpit (lump is not so hard and rounded). I have gone to consult a doc yesterday and was advised to take anti biotics (Augmentin Amoxiclav 625MG) for a week. Today is my second day taking the anti biotic tabs, may I know how soon after consuming the tabs can the lump dissapear? Im quite worried if I might get Breast Cancer. FYI, I got the same prob abt 16 yrs back, went for an operation for a lump in my right breast which turned out to be a benign. Please advise. TX

Hi again,
I can understand your anxiety, but try not to be overly stressed about this pea size lump.
As I said before, antibiotics take some time to be fully effective and you have only started taking them 3 or 4 days ago.
If the lumps doesn't shrink with time or if it enlarges, you should contact your Doctor and I am sure that you will be advised what has to be done next.In the mean time try to be patient and make sure you take all the antibiotic prescribed.
I wish you all the best and good luck...

Hey there, thanks so much for the advise. Yes the doc indeed suspected that it is sebaceous cyst, but for as long as I still can see and feel the lump, I feel very scared. Cant concerntrate much at work :( Its been the 3rd day since im consuming the antibiotics but feel that the lump has not shrinken at all. I am super tense now!

Hi,
This kind of lump can be a swollen lymph node,a sebaceous cyst or a boil.If your Doctor has prescribed an antibiotic, then he/she thinks it's an infection of the hair follicle,or an infection somewhere in the body ( causing a swollen lymph node). Some Antibiotics don't work straight away and it might take several days to see an improvement. Also swollen lymph node could  take a long time to disappear even when the infection has been treated. You really shouldn't be too concerned about it and I doubt that you have breast cancer.
However,If the lump does not go away after you finish your antibiotic, you might call your Doctor for an additional evaluation of this lump.
Take care and best wishes...
