Hope your feeling better today! Try to be strong and good to yourself. Don't let the beats keep you from doing anything that you want to do. Try to remember that they are not going to hurt you. You had all the tests run and your doctor told you that your heart is normal. When you get scared remember that everyone has PVC's & PAC's and some people just don't feel them. Think of them as a hiccup.  Don't let them rule you.....

how are you today, hope things have settled down for you . glad to see you have had a ecko and your heart looks good,  i have had the darn things for years well since i was 12 than at 23 they really came on i just knew i was dead and i wanted to hang around for my two very small sons. and i did they are now grown and  living life and i got to see it all. i have wore many heart monitors for 30 days and mine always comes out they are pacs thats the ones i have the most ,i do have pvc to. last time i wore one i had over 3000 a day. i had so many in a row it felt like flutters and no heart beat. that was really scarey could not count my puluse they were so many. when they first started i would have a real fast heart beat than a hard thump than it seemed like a pause and reg beat. i waited to die any min from them, made many trips to the er and always sent home with a ativan and your going to live.

my heart beat would get up to 240 beats all of a sudden and i just knew i was gone. i was scared  to walk thinking it would make my heart worse, but as time went on i started to see i was still around and even thought they came a lot they were not killing me and maybe my drs were right . i went to many by the way. so i started to say ok if you want to come, you have to go with me i got to go to store , and off i would go with them skipping away, before i knew it they were very little and going away for weeks at a time. i made myself live with them and not fear them all the time. dont get me wrong i had days i was scared and still to this day if i get them after a long time of not having them it scares me but  i can deal with them better , they will not cause you to have a heart attack if you have a good normal heart  and your echo told you that you do. they will not wear your heart out after years of having them, and mine have not gotton any worse throught the years(thank ourLORD).

so try and relax when it happens always good to have a friend/hubby/family you can be around to feel safe when they are to bad and someone you can talk to that will let you know your ok. thats what we are all here for. others like me who have had them awhile that can talk to someone whos gotton them and new to it all. how i wish i had a computor when i had the to start it sure would helped me to see i was not the only one out there with them and that i was going to be ok. so hang in there and when you need to come on here and we will help you get throught them. My doctor had rx me metoprolo er 25mg. 1/2 tablet twice a day just for my symptoms. Sometimes the beta blockers can make PVC's worse. The PVC's are harmless & I didn't like the way I was feeling when my heart rate was in the 40's. I already have a slow heart rate because I run and workout.  My suggestion for you: 1) stop caffine  2) stop checking your pulse or feeling your heart 3) stop reading and thinking about it  4) when you get the skipping, tell yourself that this is not going to keep you from your joy or rule you 5) slowly get into a exercise everyday..it helps me to do it in the morning 6) think about trying magnesium supplement.  I bet if you do this in one week you will feel lots better! :)

I'm a 24 yr old male. Echo, stress test, stress echo, holter, and event monitors have all been normal besides "PVC's and a 26 beat run of ventricular tachycardia at 127bpms that self terminated". I seen an EP today and he said that he thought it to be benign and called it Idiopathic Ventricular Tachycardia and I started asking questions and he said that just to be safe he wants to do an EP study next week. Can you explain an EP study? How safe are they to do? If he triggers a deadly arrythmia can they easily terminate it and keep me safe? What if he has to do an ablation, how safe is that? Just how benign is "Idiopathic Ventricular Tachycardia"? Can it develop into V-Fib? How bad is it to have a 26 beat run of v-tach?? Can you share your personal experiences and opinions? I also have been experiencing what feels like angina for about 2 yrs now and thats why I had the whole work up but all the test for that came back negative. ??
> > > >
> > > > also found on my copy of the cardionet report it says sinus rhythm with IVCD (Intraventricular Conduction Delay) and on the Diagnosis part it says (ICD-9): 426.9 conduction disorder, unspecified. sinus rhythm with IVCD shows like 3 different times on the report. and 3 different times had ventricular tachycardia 25 beats, rate 124BPM, all the v-tach reports had 25 beat runs with the highest rate 125BPM. does any of this offer any additional info for this v-tach maybe not being benign? does the IVCD pose more risk to SCD or v-fib with since i had documented v-tach?"
> > > >
> > > > does that long of a run (25beats) make it dangerous? will drinking alot of alcohol make my Idiopathic v-tach dangerous? i've been feeling ALOT of pvc's today, and alot of long runs of them that make me extremely scared, is this common?? what could that be?

I have on one of my EKG's it says "T Wave Inversion now evident in Inferior Leads", what does that mean? ARVD?

What beta blocker are you on? I am sensitive to beta blockers. I've taken tenormin and toprel xl, the lowest dosage and my pulse gets into the 40's. I run 3 miles and workout 5 days a week to help control my BP, & PVC's, and anxiety. Sometimes when I get several skippings in a row I do get light headed, but I never have passed out. I use to have alot of anxiety over these beats. I let it control me. I got where I was scared to go anywhere by myself.  I finally got back control & I try to ignore it & tune it out. You have a choice to be scared & tune in to it and let it rule, or listen to your doctors and know that it will not hurt you & do what you can to tune it out & put a smile on your face & live! :)

I have all kinds of skipping all the time & most people do & don't even know it. I recently had a 24hr monitor and it showed 300 PVC's with 20 couplets & 20 PAC's. My heart is structually normal determined by echo and stress tests, so my doctor said that this is nothing to worry about. They don't even get concerned unless you are having 10,000 or more and your ejection fraction gets below normal. It's weird that some people don't even know they are having these premature beats & others get freaked out. If you have had the tests and your doctor tells you that your heart is normal, then try to not let these beats get the best of you. Ignore them as much as you can. I know how sometimes they can stop you in your tracks, but remember that everyone has this. Limit your caffine & exercise to help with adrenaline & try to not think about it. Sometimes they rx beta-blockers, but they have side effects too.

Hi, thanks for your note. Of course I can comment :-)

I've also experienced this (several times, I might add..). I've even got it monitored on Holter.

Sudden adrenaline release (as you get from jumping up from a chair and running up some stairs) can cause premature beats. In this setting, PACs are the most common (and my Holter showed PACs when I noted symptoms).

No, it's not SVT. SVT is a regular rhythm (there is a condition, multifocal atrial tachycardia, causing irregular heart rate, but it's extremely uncommon). If it is a real arrhythmia, it could be atrial fibrillation, which should be ruled out with a Holter or event monitor if the events continue and are prolonged (doesn't stop when you relax).

Most likely, though, it's just a bunch of premature beats. Most likely atrial ones.

But as I said, if the events are troublesome, prolonged or occurs often, see a doctor and ask for a Holter monitoring. If you get lightheaded or short of breath with an irregular heart rhythm, see a doctor immediately.

Its just annoying, i had 2 e.c.g's and a echocardiogram. my heart is structually normal and nothing electrical was picked up on the e.c.g. execpt for 1 pvc. I have a appointment with a cardiologist on the 5th of september, it is random most of the time i walk the stairs with no problem or play football or run, but then random itmes like today i climbed the stairs my heart started racing i felt two skipped beats then after ten mins it settled down. with a normal echo and a normal resting e.c.g and normal thyroid tests should i be worried while i wait for this cardiologst does it sound serious

It's hard to tell what our hearts are doing based on what we feel. If this is something new to you, ask your doctor for a heart monitor to check it out. The best way to know is to see the activity recorded on some kind of ECG.
