Bedtime Battles?!?

Cooper just turned one a few days ago, and all of a sudden, my easiest-sleeper-in-the-world doesn't want to go to bed!!  He starts crying as soon as we head for the stairs, and wraps around my neck so tight I have to pry him off...
He does seem to be having "stranger anxiety" lately, and is VERY clingy with mom, but this is ridiculous!!
Anyone else having sleep issues??  Oh, and we tossed out the bottles within the past 2-3 days, so that may be contrinuting as well?? idk...

Sorry - I just read your post.  I just went cold turkey really.  One night I gave Cash a sippy with milk in it and he drained the whole thing!  So, the next day I packed up the bottles and started giving him sippy only and we haven't looked back.  He was really easy about it and hasn't given me any trouble as far as wanting the bottle back.  It has taken him a while to warm up to the taste of milk, but he is finally coming around and is getting 12-16oz in a day liquid (along with some yogurt and cheese to supplement).

Thanks, all, for the comments. It is always good to know you are not alone. :)
@zazou, I do believe that teething may be a part of it.  Cooper screams like he is in pain, although why it would only hurt at bedtime I do not know.... hmm.. suspicious.
But his doc did mention 1-yr molars at his check-up, so it makes sense.

Well Medina was teething the last two weeks and the last tooth (no. 8) was terrible for here. She was just crying the whole time, waking up almost every 30 minutes (!!!!!), I was so buggered. We still co-sleep as we were in Australia and it didn't work out, then back here and we got her a new bed a month ago and we are waiting on a few missing screws which should come any day now.

Maybe the kids are teething, because Medina is much much better now that the last tooth came through. She is waking up perhaps 1-2 times in the night, has a little breast feed or goes back to sleep on her own. But she has been more clingy, but I attribute that due to the new safety gate at the kitchen door. She hates it.

I'm at my wits end too! Lilly has decided she wants a 4am feed and won't go back to sleep without it! At this time she will stay up for 1 hr then go back to sleep. It's frustrating. Lilly won't drink milk from a sippy and since she was sick with gastro, is refusing the bottle too! She wants to breastfeed but i have been working so doesn't really work! I think because i'm working lilly has been really clingy and wants the boobs for comfort!

Hopefully cooper is just going through a stage and will settle back down so you can get some sleep! I can offer no advice sorry but hang in there!

Wow being a mum is tough!

Jenkaye I know what you are goingthrough. So the last few days I have been having problems with JT going to bed as well. I used to be able to put him in his bed and he would lay in there drinking his sippy cup and fall asleep. Now he drinks the sippy cup and is up and crying for us to come get him. He has been on the sippy cup for awhile so I don't think it is the transitioning but whatever it is it's causing him to wake up in the middle of the night to which is causing me to get less sleep and more headaches so if anyone can figure out what it could be let me know.

Cash is drinking from a sippy, nice, James still hates it, he will drink from a regular ater bottle or a regular cup but the sippy cup idea no clue yet. So we are still doing bottle which ***** but oh well...How did you do it?

I'm sorry girl!  I don't have any experiences to share bc Cash went from bottle to sippy pretty easy (doesn't really like milk, but that's another story) and has been sleeping really well still.
However, on a simliar note, Cash has been going through what I have named a Mommy Phase.  He doesn't want me out of his sight and sometimes even my arms!!  And the stranger anxiety has kicked in as well - which is SO different bc he used to go to anyone who smiled at him.  I think it is probably a stage coupled with a change in the bottle to sippy tranistion.  Hopefully if you just remain consistant with him he will just adjust and life will go back to normal!
Good luck!

Don't know what to say, in a previoous thread I wrote how James was going through a stage around 10 m -11m where he was throwing fits at times. About bedtime I rock him to sleep, we still do bottle for naps and bedtime so I don't know much how to help you out.
I have always believed children do things no one can understand one and the next day they change. I remember when James was younger stressing out bc he was not sleeping through the night, I TRIED everything but still he woke up every 1-2 or 3 hrs for the first 10 mm of his life, once he turned 10 he switched a flip and been sleeping 12 hrs straight since then (6 p to 6a). All of that helped me to be more flexible and take things one day at a time.
Sorry I went on way too much, hopefully someone else has better ideas.
