Anyone has infection after D&C? Will this cause the Fallopian tube blockage?

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering whether anyone has experienced infection after d&c? My d&c was done on 21 May 2010 because baby stopped developing at 9 weeks. Few days later, I felt pain down at vaginal. So I went to the doctor and was told I have infection but it did not reach the uterus. I don't have fever during the infection as well. I was given antibiotic and few days later it went away.

I did not worry about it until a doctor say infection after d&c might cause fallopian tubes to be blocked. I have decided to ttc next month and I worry about this. Not sure is it necessary to do test to see whether my tubes are effected after d&c.

Please advise me on this, ladies.

Grace

Hi,

Thanks for responding. Ya, I think he meant the cervix and that the bacteria hasn't reach the uterus yet. But I went for a check up last night at another dr. She says it's no big deal seeing how fast I healed after I consumed the antibiotic and that I did not have fever. So now just let's hope for the best.

Are you ttc now too?

Hi I had an infection following my D&C.  I don't understand why the Dr said it didn't reach your uterus as where else would the infection be?  It is the uterus that is scraped by dilating your cervix, unless he was saying it was your cervix that was infected.

If the Dr is correct that the infection was not in your uterus then I don't think for a minute it would have had any impact on your fallopian tubes.

Good luck with ttc, all the best.
