Constant breakouts

I have twins girls who are two years old. One of my girls is constantly breaking out in hives. I have taken her to her doctor and to a dermatologist who have just told us to use Benedryl when they appear. It is heart breaking because she has these out breaks quiet often and they make her so uncomfortable. I buy everything for sensitive skin but the out breaks still happen. Is there anything I can do besides just giving her a medication that I believe makes her sleepy? She misses out on so many things like painting, crafts and art projects because those products usually cause break outs too. Any suggests would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for you advice. I will go and get the non drowsy benedryl for her. I am a little suprised the neither my doctor or pharmacist told me there was a non drowsy formula. I will speak with my doctor again about the allergy testing because this has become a real problem. Thanks again.
