Potty Training...

Anyone else started potty training? Lochy just turned 17 months but he will bring me a diaper and lay down to be changed when he is dirty so I have started putting him on the potty and giving him treats so he stays sitting as long as possible. He loves praise so I'm waiting for him to accidentally pee so I can make a big deal out of it. So far he will sit on the potty for up to 10 minutes (without treats!) as long as I'm with him cheering him on.

Anyone else started? What are you trying? Any advise for me, as I am a first time Mom.

Thanks Ladies!

Lilly also brings a New diaper when wet or dirty or grabs her diaper and squeezes it. She is fascinated about the toilet too.

What you're doing sounds like a Good start. My friend just started with her boy who is almost two and has been showing him his poo and then dropping it in the toilet and letting him flush it. He knows poo goes in the toilet and has used the potty once.

I'm thinking I should start but are unsure where to start!

I'm also a first time Mum too so we are on the same boat here :-)

Medina has been showing interest since about 17 months (she will be 19 months next week). We have one of those potty seats that you put on the normal toilet seat and we put her on it when she says 'Kaka'. She finds it fascinating when we flush the toilet when she is sitting on it LOL, When Medina urinates, emits wind or her big business she says kaka and is fascinated by everyone going to the toilet and what she does in her nappy, so we thought we would buy her one. I have to get one of those potty chairs which I hope to do this or next week. I guess it doesn't hurt to have something around just in case they show interest all of a sudden.

Good luck to all of us!

That sounds great!!  Cash doesn't really have that much awareness yet.  I too am a first time Mom, but it sounds like you are on the right track!  Keep us posted, it looks like Lochy may be the first to be a "big boy"!  I'm still waiting for Cash to give me cues that he is ready.
