back pain

About 2 1/2 years ago I started getting a very dull ache in my middle back.  I used to be a CNA but it only got worse when I did a physical fitness test for the National Guard.  At first i just assumed it was because I was out of shape but then the pain never subsided.  I have recently found out that I was born with an extra vertebrae that is fused to my pelvic bone which in turn has worn down the two discs above that to almost nothing.  However, my pain management doctor and I do not think that is what is causing this pain in my middle back.  It feels like my spine is getting squeezed very tight and there is a lot of pressure in that area.  It starts at just below my bra strap and goes down about 2 or 3 vertebrae.  Also, sometimes when I take a deep breath my back will either click or pop in that area.  It doesn't cause an excruciating amount of pain when this happens but it is still a little painful and feels very gross.  I would like any ideas on what this could be.  I couldn't get any answers when this first started because all the doctors I went to either said there was nothing wrong with me or that I was a drug-seeker because in their opinion, midde back pain was only common in drug seekers.  This is not what is happening in my case.  I truly have a problem and would like to find an answer.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know.  Thanks!
