Any successful pregnancies with adenomyosis?

Hi. I am 39 years old and was diagnosed with adenomyosis and endometriosis years ago. My husband and I have been TTC for 8 years now with no success. We have done about 8 cycles of IVF. I did get pregnant with my first IVF but only to miscarry at 7 wks. Then no positive results try after try until we finally decided to use donor eggs. I got pregnant the first try with those but miscarried very early on this time at 5 weeks. We did genetic testing and the fetus was normal so this could only mean that I would have a problem with implantation. Now we are doing a surrogate cycle with the remainder of the frozen ones. I wish a doctor had told us years ago that it would make carrying the baby difficult with adenomyosis so it could have saved us money and heartache. There isnt much study on this disease. My period is just unbearable where I am skipping it with the pill. Hopefully our surrogate gets pregnant but I always wonder if there will be a chance for me to get pregnant on my own if i have this disease and should I try my own eggs with the surrogate next time around before I get too old to use mine? Maybe there isnt an egg quality issue? I just hate going thru the injections etc. but it would be nice to have my own genetics if possible.  If any one has success stories of pregnancy with adenomyosis, that would be so helpful and encouraging. I need to know there is a chance before I remove my uterus. The pain is unbearable every month. That is why I have to skip it. But how will I get pregnant if I dont get off the pill?

I was diagnosed with adenomyosis on my upper uterine wall using a ultrasound and never got the MRI. I was pregnant and m/c at 5 weeks three years ago, never pregnant again. oddly i was diagnosed with adeno only after the m/c, I often wonder if the evacuation of uterus caused the adeno to flare up. I am looking at IVF options as I turn 38 next year. thanks for this thread.

Thanks to your post, I decided to contact Midsummer clinic and going to see Michael next week.
I would love to talk to you more about this, so if you could write back, then that would be amazing..
I will wait to hear from you before going any further. I hope you are still checking back to this forum. Thanks Mil

HI ladies!

I was also diagnosed with adeno, blockage on my left tube & will undergo salpingectomy by the end of the week. I have been worried not getting pregnant. I got pregnant over 10yrs ago but only to m/c at 6wks. Since then i've never gotten pregnant again. I just turned 38 with no children.

emsky647: Goodluck on your pregnancy! I was given hope by your story.

Thank You!  CAMERON

Hi there,
I also got diagnosed with severe adenomyosis and endometriosis last August and had a laparoscopy in October where they also found a cyst and a blocked tube. At the same time I started using chinese herbs and accupuncture both of which the surgeon fully supported. I got to January this year and the specialist wanted me to go on a down regulator called zoladex for 3 months prior to starting IVF. Anyway we decided to wait another month. That period I had huge blood clots, sorry to be graphic but literally like liver, and then incredibly I got pregnant that month and am now 11 weeks. Oviously the operation helped but I am totally convinced I'd never of got pregnant without these herbs. The guy I saw is amazing he runs the Midsummer Clinic, Michael McIntyre, you can find his details online. Really good luck to you I can't imagine how strong you are having to be but please don't give up hope it is possible to get pregnant with adenomyosis. All the best, Emma.

I know it's a reasonably old thread, but I was interested to find out how you are going? Did you get pregnant with the surrogate?  I have adenomyosis as well and have been through 3 IVF cycles.  Due to my advanced age of 41, my consultant suggested I try using an egg donor to boost my chances. He said that in his experience, young eggs may help to overcome the adverse conditions within the womb created by adenomyosis. I am now considering turning to donor eggs, but was wondering if you underwent a long down-regulation the last time you were pregnant?

Toots, such great news! Was it a boy or girl?

Sooo sorry to read about all your problems... i am 23 and had lots of fertility problems, i had 4 miscarriages and was then found to have a thrombophelia factor 3 defiency, i fell pregnant with my gorgeous miracle daughter in june 2009 and with ALOT of treatment she was born Feb 2010. She is my total miracle! After i gave birth my periods got worse and so painful each month, really heavy. I had lots of tests done and was diagnosed with Adenomyosis. The only treatment i was offered was the pill or a hysterectomy, but as i am still relatively young they wouldnt offer me a hysterectomy because i hadnt finished growing my family and i cant take any forms of contraception due to my blood disorder so basically there was nothing i could do but grin and bare it... i was told if i want to try for another baby i should within 6 months to a year as it could make me infertile within a few years, no one can tell. Anyway... in Jan this year me and my husband decided to not try / not prevent, first time i fell pregnant (to my total amazement!!!) so now i am nearly 5 weeks pregnant, with a super high risk pregnancy as i have blood disorder and adenomyosis! i just basically wanted to write this to let you know it IS posible to get pregnant while having adenomyosis, i was in so much shock! i am terribly scared though as it is still very early days and i do not know what part the adenomyosis is going to play in this pregnancy yet.

Please dont give up hope that you cant fall pregnant naturally, keep trying, but just dont expect... you will have your miracle baby one day!!!!
