It is probably ascites, which is a common occurance with ovarian cancer diagnosed at an advanced stage. Usually, the only way to get rid of it is by tapping, which her doctor has done, or with chemotherapy. Tapping will only relieve the situation, but as you know, it will continue to happen. Chemotherapy can "dry it up" by killing the cancer cells that are causing it. Sometimes it can take a long time, though, depending on how well someone responds to chemotherapy. Has her doctor started chemo yet?
