Is Spirituality secure for you?

....I found the following quote online & found myself wondering about my security sense and how it related to my faith and/or spirituality.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.  (Helen Keller)

Good post Dazon.  It took a bit for me to get my head wrapped around it and then come to terms with it.  It really made me think  Ouch!!  LOL.  After reading the other posts it kinda clicked.  I don't really know what is right or how I will be judged.  I do my best to have faith in God on a daily basis (often moment to moment) so that when my path is laid out before me I can have faith that it is Good.  It's like an endless cycle of faith.

I am finding that true security for me doesn't come from my own knowledge, skills or surroundings.  Do I feel secure when everything is where it usually is?  Sure.  When I have that Good deep down faith, though,  it is way better.

I hope that makes sense.  Thanks for bringing it up.  Thanks also to you Cloud for your comments.  Take care!!!

Wow that pretty deep and makes good sense to me.

I really like this line

"make me realize more and more how little we know and that being right is in the eye of the beholder."

Great!  It challenges us in what we hold to that makes us believe we are secure.  I know of some debates amongst christians about security in salvation.  Some think your salvation can be lost while others are secure that once saved, always saved.

When I came across that in my journey, I was challenged to see in a new way.  Sometimes I think that all the debates, etc. make me realize more and more how little we know and that being right is in the eye of the beholder....that the security must be anchored within with the belief one holds and that it could be in a state of flux when confronted with contradicting ideas, etc....so change is inevitable.

I have found peace in believing that God sees our struggles and knows the desire of our heart to know what truth is and have the "right" knowledge.  He also knows our weaknesses and the bondages/captivities we are in and how blind we are.  For that I believe in a merciful/forgiving/loving God that is creativity beyond measure to see the ways to get the info. to us when the opening is there to give it to us in our receptivity.

Well the statment is true and if nothing else shows it hackers do.
A antivirus will help with the stuff thats been uncovered and such but it wont stop a new gen virus or a hacker them self.

The same is true with your home. You lock the doors and windows to make you feel more say that sign that ist outside your house that says this house is under blah blahs protective watch is only for your state of mind. IF someone wants  in their going to get in.

As far as spirituality it can be true do you believe what you believe because you are scared?

but in that nature aren't we all scared. Scared of what might or might not be. Justice , security,  good, and evil these are all ideas that we have given meaning too. What is safe?

What we believe in makes us feel better that in a sense is security.
