Mild burning sensation in left side of stomach

I have Mild burning sensation or pain in the left side of stomach, just few inches below the end of rib-cage. It started around 18 months back with being very light sensation but it is now more emphasized. The sensation keeps changing the exact positions in small area. It is not continuous but on someday it is for 3-4 hours. I feel better when I have a better bowel movement. Sometime better in empty stomach but othertimes emptiness aggravagtes the problem as well. I have consultated few doctors, they suggested sonography and even endoscopy but nothing significant came out, excpet H-pylori. They say not to worry and prescribe some antacid sort of medicines.. but it gives temporal relief and the sensation comes back after 2-3 weeks. The treatment for H-pylori helped me in reducing the gas, burps and acidic feeling in stomach. However, this sensation has not come down.
I just do not know what the cause is? Please suggest.

I just did some Googling and this forum popped up.  I'm 53 yrs old.  I feel a slight burning sensation on the left side of my stomach as if a hot liquid is being poured on the inside of my stomach in the format of a line.   It lasts only seconds but has now happened a few times.   If I touch my stomach I can actually feel heat.  No clue what it is and was looking for other ppl who may be experiencing the same thing.   I'll be damned if I go running up thousands in doctor's bills just for everyone to tell me they can't fig out what it is, now go see this person.  I'll wait for enough ppl to say what it is first because Google is now everyone's doctor, lawyer, and psy, and seems to know more than educated ppl do.

I'm 55 and have had this warm sensation exactly as you described . It has been going on for at least 2 months. I am with you on Dr, thing. Can't afford to do anything as it is let alone a Dr bill that I could put a down payment on house with. Please keep posting as I will if any thing that makes sense comes to light. Thank you

I been having the same problem for about 3 months now. Im 19 years old and been diagnosed with anxiety when i was 16, for the past 3 months I been having burning yucky feeling in my stomach and very bad diarrhea and when i took a imodium to revealed some of the nausea and diarrhea, i became very constipated for 2 months. I take stool softeners and been to the doctor 4 more times for it and he gave me medication after medication.I thought it was just the stomach virus so i went back to my doctor and said i had GRED and gave me medication for  that. Next few day i been in and out of the emergency room 4 time and they told me i had IBS and gave me medication for that and some P8 since i was bloating so bad, stomach burn so bad, nausea, i did not want to eat at all. I felt like sh....t. Well few weeks later i went back with the same problem and he said i had kidney infection and gave me medication for that which actually helped for a while, few weeks later same problem this time my back was hurting so bad and i was tired all day and emotional wreck and he told me i was depressed and which my anxiety medication with two depression medication, one to put me to sleep at night. I still have burning on my left side that comes and goes, sometime moves to my back and thigh, nauseated, wont eat, mucus build up in my throat, bloated so bad it looks like i am pregnant which i know for a fact i am not since i am never sexually active and is still a virgin. Idk what to do anymore.....my x rays and blood test, urine test all come back clear... im going to get a utra sound tomorrow to see if i have cysts in my ovaries. Pls help if you know what this is. Im scared :( i dont want to die

I can't tell you exactly what you are suffering from- but it sounds like your doctor is continuing to order tests to figure things out, is that right?  I know it's very hard not to worry- do you have a support system, like your parents or good friends?  Are you able to talk with them about how you are feeling- not just physically but the anxiety about it all?  Are you also seeing a doctor for the anxiety?

Let us know how your ultrasound goes today!
Yeah that's right and yes i am seeing the doctor for my anxiety. My dad is not really in my life to show support and I never meet my mom, my grandparents are some what supportive but they think it is all in my head. I have a very supportive aunt who is doing what ever she can to help me. I got my ultra sound done, and i have to wait for the results. I wasnt able to see the screen and the woman didnt tell me anything. but my aunt and my sister saw a big black hole in my ovaries and a bunch of white spots, so I am not really sure if that means anything or not but I guess i have to wait for the results. And thank you so much for being supportive as well, it means so much to me to be able to fine some help :)

i faced this problem 20years back..there is no medicine for this.. it is only change your lifestyle.. drink glass of water in the morning after one hour you can have food stuff for your breakfast .. concentrate more on your work with full dedication..have your lunch in exact time...have your small food stuff 3_4 hours before dinner.. have complete dinner at night.. eat anything ie. whatever you eat everyday please dont change that as your stomach has become habitual to eat.. but most important have water half an hour before breakfast/lunch/snacks/dinner never drink water when you are having food stuff.. after one hour you can drink water as per your requirement..and not too much also as it can change acid/base ratio in your stomach. stop drinking cold water.. stop drinks and smoking atleast for 2 years.cold water and ice are poison atleast for 2 years of yours 100% it will led you to gastritis/ulcer/diverticulas/hiatal hernia etc.. even if get operated by yourdoctor 100 % the symptoms will arise in next 6 months...our stomach functions are really complicated..it will perish away and you will never know when it got vanished.. pls dont have too many antacid as they all are temporary relief having too many side effects..during the above change in your eating lifestyle you may have a pain atleast for 2-3 weeks have rantac.. but try to avoid it after that..also try avoiding too much spicy stuff.. later on you can have it... have a perfect rest of atleast 8 hours everyday..you will get cured..our medical science is still lagging the solution for stomach abnormal functions

I have had this problem for about 6 years now. Grains seem to be the cause (including all gluten products, rice, quinoa, corn, etc). Maybe try going grain free for a while and see where it takes you. Keep in mind that it takes 30-60 days for gluten to leave your system, so keep at it for at least that long. I ate gluten bread yesterday and the pain has been non-stop since. Ensure you also eat a variety of fruits and veggies for the fiber content, and avoid medications such as Tums, laxatives, or proton pump inhibitors, as these actually make your symptoms worse.

I'm having the same issue I think it may be due to my high caffeine consumption. After reading someone's comment about being diagnosed with depression due to illness scares and his symptoms of burning sensation leaving periodically in convinced it's the adrenal gland which is causing the burning sensation. Anyone care to chime in and discuss this

On second thought I'd think I attribute this symptom to a pancreas condition. A conclusion I can to some time ago due to my diet

Sometimes the large intestine will contract too much while stool moves through and will tug at the intestines. This moves the mucus membrane enveloping the intestines that attach to the abdominal wall. This will cause the burning sensation. When it's reoccurring it will continually cause issues and inflammation. I went through this and researched further to find out about this. Try taking stool softness for awhile or some Cascara Sagrada and Slippery Elm to keep the stool semi loose for a few months to let that part heal.

Hope this helps! It did me

I am a male in my 40s. About 5 years ago, I started to have a burning sensation in my lower left abdomen. Sometimes it radiates to my back, or legs, but it is mainly in the lower left abdomen. It is at its worst when I’m sitting or lying down. Eating always makes it worse, no matter what food it is. I have tried all kinds of diets, including cutting seeds out of my life, and eating lots of fiber. I have been to at least 20 doctors, including gastroenterologists, urologists, radiologists, neurologists, and surgeons. I have had every possible testing done, some of them multiple times, including CT scans (with and without contrast), MRI, X-Ray, ultrasound, even a PET scan, which is usually only done for cancer screening. My blood work has never shown anything abnormal. I have had multiple colonoscopy and upper endoscopy done. Doctors have told me it was things like IBS, diverticulitis, ulcers, and many more things, but all have been proven to be false. I have taken several rounds of Cipro and Flagyl for the diverticulitis, and my last colonoscopy showed that even the pouches vanished, which is impossible, so I either never had them or they are still there. Recently, a doctor told me it was some type of hernia, so I had a laparoscopy done, but that showed no signs for hernias, only some twisting of the large intestine, which my surgeon said he fixed. Five days later, I ended up in the emergency room because my heart was beating too fast once I realized all my symptoms were back after the surgery. Afterwards, a doctor told me it might be cancer, which was proven false with the PET scan. Then, I went to a psychiatrist and she diagnosed me with depression and anxiety, which I think is a result from having so many scares over the years and always being on the edge of my seat while waiting for results, so I am taking many medications for that. The burning went away for a month or so, but now it is back and I do not know how to deal with it and the depression at the same time. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! If you have had a similar experience or know someone with similar symptoms, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

I am presenting having similar experience for about 2 years now ...hope you get this message
I have been two years like this too, but my pain is on the right side. I started having the burning pain on the left 3 weeks after a laparoscopy that was pointless because the dr didn't find a thing. I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago when I started having this pain and I am having one again on Monday, and I feel like I am going crazy because the pain is there but no one finds why and I know my gp doesn't believe me, she things it is hormonal, only bad period pains... it's so frustrating.
I have the same problem pain I have trouble popping after surgery removal of kidney stones I feel like I'm dieing  I'm bloated stomach has knots in it hurts real bad I have affection after effection that won't seem to go away up pylori got medicine for that and still hurts

My husband, had done a few months ago a ct-scan w/contrast and  a borium shake. A month after this procedure he started feeling a burning sensation on his left side of the belly area.  He mentioned this to his urologist, and this dr, all he can say was that. " maybe the borium shake he had to drink for the procedure had leak".  (This procedure was done due to kidney's stones) My husband had them removed.  The issue is what did this dr. meant by a leak. Or is he just trying to come out clean, because. He asked us why  my husband was given a barium shake? As if he the physian isn't the only one to request this.  Any feed back Pls.
