Spotting

I am 5 weeks 6 days pregnant and last night I started to lightly spot. It isn't a lot. It is like light pinkish and only comes out a little bit on the toilet paper when I wipe (sorry tmi). Anyone have any experience with spotting. Does it mean miscarriage or could it be something else? The doctor told me i had a cyst on my right ovary and before the spotting started i had pain in my right lower abdomen. Could the cyst have burst? Would this cause spotting. Obviously nobody is in the doctor's office today since it is Easter. I am getting a call from them tomorrow to give me me 2nd round of blood work. I am so nervous!!

I have the same thing happening to me!  I will be 6 weeks tomorrow and have had a bit of pinkish/light brown spotting.  It was dark brown yesterday and just a tinge.  It is so nerve racking, I can't wait until ultrasound on May 4th!!

It is almost not even there anymore. The nurse at the doctor told me it could have been an irritation from the PAP they did, normal discharge or really anything at all and to really try not to worry about it. Some say it can be caused by stress which i'm a little nervous about because i have been on vacation from work since I found out and vacation ends tomorrow. I teach young children so i have a lot of moving and bending i do.

Got my call from the doctor today. They told me that the spotting is nothing to worry about unless it gets heavy or turns very red or if i get bad cramping. She said my HCG went up very nicely from 286 to 1060 between Tuesday and Friday. I go again May 4th. I am now officially excited and so happy! I hope you ladies continue to get good news too. Keep me updated. Thanks again for the support yesterday. I was crazy worried. Decided to accept that this is going to work out. I'm just going to try to relax, be happy and pregnant!! Yay!

Thanks ladies. I have never been through this before so your comments are very helpful and reassuring. Thanks! I will find out tomorrow if my levels rose and make an appointment to see the doctor about this spotting. I'm on the suppositories too. I'm hoping it is nothing and your stories and advice helps me to stay hopeful. I took it REALLY easy today. was attached to my bed and couch. I cancelled my Easter plans. Felt bad just sending my husband to his parents without me and a story about me being sick but I am putting this baby before everything else right now. I'm sure everyone will forgive me. Haha. Thanks again!

Hi I had spotting when I first found out I was pregnant.  I was 5 weeks 2 days.  It lasted for a week, it wasn't a lot but it was red and probably about 12 or so drops a day.  From my previous pregnancies I knew to take it easy, don't lift heavy things (including my daughter) and don't have sex.  So I called my new dr. (we moved) he checked my HCG levels just like my last dr. would have to make sure they were going up every couple days and I had an u/s at 6 wks to see if the baby was O.K. and THEY were!  We saw the heartbeats.  Dr. doesn't know why I spotted but after the u/s (vaginal) the red turned to brown, which he was happy with. He checked my HCG levels again twice the next week along with another u/s a week after the first.  And I get another one this Thursday.
P.S. I'm on progesterone suppositories and 4 MG folic acid from the morning after I found out I was pregnant.
Good luck!

The spotting could be from a number of things actually. Yes it is possible the cyst burst and that's what it is from. Although i think if that happen you would have pain with it. No spotting does not always mean miscarriage but if it becomes bright red ans you have cramps go get checked. If you have had sex you could be spotting from that as well. Is it possible the spotting is not coming from inside your vagina? In the end i hope all goes well and please keep us updated.
