Nice to find a site where everybody is hurting!! Misery loves company. . . seriously, hate that others are suffering but glad to know I'm not the only one. Pain comes in cycles. Now, feet burning and cramping when standing too long; goes up my calves. Starts this way and then works its way around in a few days til I feel really painful cramps everywhere, even my face. Whats frustrating is to go from doc to doc over the years and made to feel it is in your mind. Sandredeez, you mentioned it could be a few jillion things. . . and I agree. Doctors either don't take the time to test you out---or the tests are within minimal normal ranges; so you are "normal". Well, I guess I am normal compared to the lot of us.LOL I do know Doctors are not gods and cannot explain everything and really don't have the time because of all the emergent diseases. . . so we must all do our best. I am peri-menopausal, tired, achy, freshly-divorced, back-in-school to be an RN 52 yo mom!. Well, some days I feel might be might last as I pull myself out of bed to go intern at a large hospital. . . but, I'd rather live on my feet than die on my knees!!
It does help me to rest properly, eat lots of fruits/veggies, stay away from wheat, and exercise/stretch, AND WATER! Many times I'm just too tires to try and be healthy and there goes the routine. . . then I pay, with no resolve to pick myself up. But, we sail on, right?

Low vit. D could also be part of a bigger problem. My husband has the muscle pain, low vit. D, and thyroid issues and was recently diagnosed with lyme disease. Lyme disease depletes the vit. D stores and magnesium stores in your body. It can cause many problems like indigestion, IBS, low thyroid, slow matabolism, blood sugar problems like prediabetes and hypoglycemia, sleep disturbances, fatigue and many more. Do you have any of these symptoms or have you been diagnosed with anything else? My husband also suffers from low testosterone, headaches, neck pain, lower back pain, foot pain on soles of feet, hair loss and more.

I have just been diagnosed with a Vit D def with a level of 9. I have been absolutely miserable for months and I have 2 doctors watching over me for another unrelated illness (but who knows...not the doctors for sure). My other illness is one in which I make too many red blood cells. When I began treatment 4 yrs ago I asked the hemotologist about taking vitamins and that doctor said an empathic "NO!" I asked again recently and the doctor said, "that's not what we are doing here." Well, guess what, what they were doing "here" was starving my system of Vit D and I had such terrible pain for months and months. I complained and both doctors ignored me. I had to ask for the Vit D test and imagine their suprise when I diagnosed myself. I have had palpitations, shoulder pain, chest pain, weakness, irritability, pain and numbness in my arm and hand, neck pain, exhaustion, headaches, etc. Previously, I have worked in medical mgment and I have seen apathy in the medical world kill patients. Most doctors are great people however they are forced to comply with ins co rules rather that treat people as healers. It's the system that's sick and its now a politcal issue. I sincerely hope that all of you will support changes in our healthcare system because what we have now is not working for the doctors or us the patients. Ask your doctor to run this test re: Vit. D unless you get 15 minutes of sunshine each and every day.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, low vitamin D could be the cause. Unexplained aches and pains coming on and off could also be due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, anemia, liver disorders, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Vit B12 deficiency and due to calcium or magnesium deficiency. It can also be due to sleep related disorders. In women it can be due to hormonal disturbances related to PCOD/menopause.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!

"Because vitamin D is needed for bone formation and growth, deficiency decreases calcium absorption in the body and often leads to musculoskeletal pain. Individuals who have mild to moderate deficiency may experience muscle weakness, pain, numbness or tingling, and muscle cramps and twitching."
