Microcalcifications - biopsy yesterday July 19

Hi, I had a biopsy yesterday for microcalcifications.....I have to wait 5-7 days for the results.  I was wondering if anyone has experienced fatigue for months prior to diagnosis.  I have myself 99.9% convinced that the result will be benign, however I had endometrial cancer 4 years ago and I really don't want to experience cancer again.

Anyone have fatigue prior to diagnosis?

This discussion is related to microcalcifications.

Thank you for your comments.  I'll return to my doc after the results of the biopsy.  I should look into the B12 deficiency.  When I had endometrial cancer, I had a partial hysterectomy and opted to keep my ovaries.  Every month, I feel drained wt chronic fatigue that lasts for 10-15 days......after my biopsy, I was so weak.....I had to lay in bed; that's just not normal.

I had an MRI of my pelvic region......all fine.  Hormone levels fine.  I'm also seeing a neuro surgeon for bulging discs in my cervical/Lumbar spine next week, but that would not cause fatigue.  Thank you for the pointers; I'll run them by my doc.  My father/brother both had colon cancer; I had endometrial cancer at 38; cousin had kidney cancer.  I've lost uncles/aunts to colon cancer, but no one has had breast cancer (as far as I know).  Well, I'm shooting for positive results on the biopsy......not even going to think of it any other way.

Thank you ladies......I'll let you know the results next week:)

Hi trina
I too have microcalcifications and have been extremely fatigued and my Dr. ordered a CBC  before we had discovered I had the microcalcifications and I found that I'm slightly anemic which of course causes fatigue.

Hope everything turns out well, please keep us updated.

Hi again trina.
You got excellent advice from bluebutterfly, please follow her recommendations by finding a good Internal Medicine Specialist to run all the tests necessary to find out what's causing your fatigue.
Like bb I also wish you to be well and strong again.
Take care and good luck!

Hi,
I certainly hope your biopsy turns out fine.

If it does, you obviously should have a complete evaluation for your complaint of fatigue.  You should not have to be the one to figure out what tests need to be run; your doctor, or any good Internal Medicine Specialist, will know what the most common conditions are that need to be elimated in making a differential diagnosis, and then what less common causes should be explored if none of the more common ones are implicated.

There are many, many possible causes. Just to mention a few:

zouzi was correct in mentioning thyroid tests, since low  thyroid, levels
can cause low energy, fatigue and depression.Have you had a full work-up in regard to the goiter?  Did your doctor run a full thyroid panel, not just routine blood work?  Was your diet evaluated for possible low iodine content?

Depression can also cause fatigue and low energy. Have you had symptoms of a depressive disorder?

Have you been tested for B-12 deficiency? That can cause depression, fatigue, low eneregy and a lot of other symptoms.

Many viruses (such as "mono"), can leave people feeling exhausted, depressed and unable to function normally. Chronic fatigue syndrome can cause similar problems.

Even chronic sleep problems, related to psychological issues or to a primary sleep disorder can cause fatigue and even memory problems.

Diabetes can make people feel weak and tired. (But surely your doctor included that in your blood test?)

Wishing you good luck and a return to good health,
bluebutterfly

Thank you for your comments on Vitamin D; when I had cancer before I was extremely tired for months prior and I have fatigue once again.  I really don't think I have BC, but I cannot explain the reason for my fatigue; I have a goiter in my thyroid, but blood work showed everything was normal.

I'll just wait for the results of my biopsy but I don't know what's causing the fatigue.  I'm 43; used to go to the gym, run, bike, but don't have the stamina for it anymore......

If anyone has any input; would love to hear.  Tx.......

I'm sure the microcalcifications are benign; will know early next week.  But I don't know what other tests to run to resolve fatigue.  It's effecting my daily life......

Hi,
First of all,I sure hope that your biopsy results will be benign as it most often is.
I believe that Microcalcifications do not cause breast pain or fatigue... as there are no symptoms associated with microcalcifications.
However I have heard that some women do experience fatigue, hair loss and other health issues, because of  Vitamin D deficiency.
Having a low level of Vit.D,is pretty common and is often associated with an increased risk of developing not only breast cancer, but other kinds of cancer as well..
Please talk to your Primary care Physician to ordered a blood test to have your thyroid checked and also to find out your Vitamin.D level.
I think it's really important for women to make sure they know if they have a Vit D deficiency, even if they have daily sun exposure and eat fish food regularly. So many women are shocked to find out how low their level is.
Best wishes.....
