I tested positive with 2 of my 3 children and had iv antibiotics while in labour and they also gave me a weeks worth of oral antibiotics when i came back positive for it. Once baby was born they keep you in for 24 hours just to monitor them to make sure they weren't showing any symptoms then we got to go home. They thought my son had a raised temp and kept us in an extra night but it was a fulse alarm. I honestly think i'm going to test positive this time also as like you i'm also itchy and have been treating myself for thrush and hopong its all clear before i go for swabs in 2 weeks with my midwife.
Hope this helps.
thanks for the feed back. I hate that I dont see my OB untill end of the month to get the 411 on everything on this.
They will usually give you antibiotics during delivery but the antibiotics are fine and won't harm baby.
i have not been positive for strep b but i know of women who have and their babies were ok.....during delivery you will get antibiotics through the iv that is already in
