Dropping Baby

Hey all,

I had a sudden onset of symptoms this weekend, including excessive fatigue (which seems normal anyway) but combined with that I have had period like cramps, pain over my stomach and uterus (like bruising, so clothing is very uncomfortable if it's mid bump), a feeling like a fingernail scratching my cervix when I walk, lower back pain, weird cramp/burning/tearing feeling on the backs of my upper legs (like if you've sat on cold metal and your skin begins to heat back up).

I'm not worried about my braxton hicks, but these other syptoms have me a little concerned...just because they seem to sound like the baby may have 'dropped'.  I am going to book an appointment with the Doc next week (as my midwife didn't really seem to listen).

Has anyone else experienced the baby dropping?  If you've had a child before when did this happen, if it happened at all?  I've heard it can happen up to 4 weeks before labour and I've heard of it happening 6 weeks before.

I'm just hoping I'm over reacting, otherwise DH prob wont be able to come home in time, my parents are in Saudi and the in-laws have just gone abroad.  Fingers and legs crossed!

Thank you Moni, I'm pretty sure it's just normal and unfortunate and getting me back for the uneventful easy pregnancy I've had so far...my Doc says I've had a disgustingly normal pregnancy!

Took my dog for a short walk this afternoon and whenl i got back the pains up my er...hoohaa, were quite sharp!  Almost like a knitting needle...had some difficulty with it all day, but definitely painful when I got home.  It's just typical that when no-one is around in the family that something comes to freak me out!

What did your drop feel like Moni?

Oh my! You make this experience sound painful. I have had two children, but they both didn't start to really drop until about a week before labor. Actually my first son never really dropped at all. I did feel more pressure when walking but not anything that was too unbearable or uncomfortable. Sorry I am not much help to you.

I hope all is ok and you get the answers that you need. : )
