What is up with these tests

I am 46 since I was about 35 after childbirth I had mammograms every year..Well this year I go for 1 then recalled to do another mammogram ( cha Ching ) Obama care...Then after that considering family history...hmmm i have been sober 21 years don't smoke run 4 miles a day ( I am in high risk ). Oh my alcoholic smoke addicted parent that did have breast cancer puts me in a high risk?.....hmm anyway after the second mamo off to an ultra sound. Dr (hospital comes in ahh don't see nothing. Looks dense not really concerned..Good enough for me...Next day OBGYN call o for your peace of mind you need to go for a MRI...hmmm not worried no bump nothing that I saw on ultrasound believe me the Dr was fishing around and came up with nothing...Thank GOD. Of course having a cow told them if obama care don't cover ( my 450.00 a month policy) I will not go for a 4th  test....Well I dragged my hubby with me on my Dr OBGYN referral and low and behold the dang test is 1000.00 insurance oh no we must give that to the people behind me. That was it for me I was outta there. Hubby says no way go take it...Having a cow I took it...2 times cuz the medicine for the test did not go in my vein..Hurt so bad I wanted to die. She left me in this horror for another 20 minutes. Than I had to go back and do it again...Not the last of this. Guess who called to tell me yea all clear ( the appointment setter OBGYN) much to my surprise I am in the process of getting all my tests and go picking them up AT OBGYN and then go to a specialist to tell me what in the world did they see? I feel so exploited. I wish the Dr would explain the concern rather then the appointment setter. Besides that they way over billed me on top of it. SCAMM HOAX my experience have them show u concern and go see specialist.

I keep remembering when there was no health insurance and doctors' fees were low and we could all afford to see a doctor or go to a clinic. In this wonderful modern world we pay through the nose for what used to be affordable because doctors did not have a guaranteed income and had to woo their patients.

What you need to do is to request a copy of your results for each test when you have them done, read the results and pay special attention to the final "impression" as well as any recommendation that is noted on the report. If you have questions about what you have read then see the Dr. who ordered the test (face to face) for a detailed explanation. You do NOT need to have any test that you don't want to have. For what you had done I don't believe that you were "over billed" and whether all tests were necessary would depend on what was "seen" on the first films. Additional testing such as MRI may be necessary when the breast tissue is very dense as Mammogram does not "see" thru dense tissue and might very well miss something. In the future just demand detailed explanations of the test results so that you will feel comfortable accepting any further investigation. By the way, the price you quoted for the MRI wasn't out of line by today's standards.  Regards ....
