vaccinations ???

I was just wondering if everyone has been giing their babies their vaccinations? Ezra has only gotten a tetnus shot and i only gave that to him cause of his accident... i will be giving him his vaccinations eventually but i just want to wait untill he is past the whole autism age which is 18-24 months... i want to see him talking and playing properly and proper social development at that age befor i start giving it to him...

i read a new study a couple weeks ago that the Dtap vaccine causes inflammation in the brain so they can not rule out that is could be a factor

when my friend was taking her baby for her 6 month shots i think... the baby before her started to have seizures after the shot... super scary!!!!!

im just crazy paronoid about everything and if he does end up having it i just dont want to be able to say what if i did something differently....

My ped told me if I had Ellie in daycare she would STRONGLY URGE me to do the flu vaccine bc the flu can kill and infant. But because we don't do daycare or expose her to those potentials we are better off avoiding the vaccine. But all the rest we do on schedule

Interesting about the flu vac. All four peds we talked to recommended it and all of my friends with babies under a year got it, too, as their peds recommended.  Annabelle had no reaction to the flu shot or the booster one month later. This is what I love about this forum... seeing so many different opinions and ideas about everything! And of course we each have the very same goal in mind-- doing what is best for our baby. We just go about it differently  :-)

I did give the flu to amy, i got it for myself and got convinced by my doctor, but will not be giving her the 2nd round she was miserable after it got spr congested and looked like a truck ran over her.. poor baby wish i hadnt given in... :( i do however follow all the schedules for the other vaccines, my mom has 2 cousins whose parents decided not to vaccinate and both ended up with polio... so i didnt want to risk it...

Very very interesting stuff. I haven't given the flu vac for my kids yet. My husband and I do for ourselves... but we are holding off for children as well.

My dr even said don't give my daughter the flu vaccine and apparently a lot of drs don't even have it in office for children bc they are against it

ya here is canada we have to show proof of vaccination for school too

but i am not not vaccinating him i am just delaying im not crazy lol i am just scared to do it as an infant i just want to see that he is normal first

In Australia if you don't get your children vaccinated they are not allowed to go to kindy, school, daycare etc. When you enrol you have to show that they have been vaccinated and that their vaccinations are up to date.  I am not actually sure what happens to those parents that choose not to vaccinate their children.

To encourage parents to vaccinate their children they also stop government payments if your child's vaccination lapses.  Over here you get what is called famiy tax benefit for working parents.  You can get this fortnightly or yearly so if you don't vaccinate your chldren they will stop the payments.  You also get two payments of like 140 at 18 months and 4 years if your child is fully vaccinated.

The only vaccinations we get over here are
measles, mumps and rubella
diptheria
tetanus
polio and whooping cough oh and they have also introduced meningitis vaccination.

  We had an outbreak in NZ with meningitis so I chose to get my kids immunised.  I wouldn't immunise them against that bird flu thing or anything that was optional.

I would never give my child a flu vaccination I just think that is crazy.  I hope all that makes sense

thats why i posted this in the first place i wanted to see everyones opinion on the subject and I know that there are many parents that go either way... i was just curious about what  everyone else was doing about it.

i used to think that people that didnt vaccinate their babies were crazy but now here i am... i am all for vaccination and i am very confident that they dont cause autism but i just dont want to have anythig to blame it on if he does end up having it.

he will be vaccinated its not like i am against doing it at all i just want him to be developed .

autism is kind of equivalent to death i would think i know after living a normal life that i would not want to live like that!  (my opinion) you are never able to live your life on your own without help the chances of ever finding someone other then your family that will love you is very slim the possibility of ever having children are very unlikely.... my son cant even make friends in kindergarten.... i am just trying to give ezra the best chance


i know that there are drs that agree not to vaccinate high risk children as infants... high risk having a sibling with autism, alzimers in the family and i have both in my family


he did get his tetanus and diphtheria shot when he had his accident... i also know that there are a lot of vaccines that are just unnecessary such as the flu shot... we were given an immune system for a reason im pretty sure...


i am probably going to start his shots after his 1st b-day

none of the drs seemed concerned with me not having his shots done yet and they do agree with my reasoning seeing how there is no known cause of autism so just because they test the thermosil in the vaccines doesnt mean there couldnt be something else in it cause shots do contain many different heavy metals


i am happy to have everyones opinion on the subject :)

I think you are a fantastic mom for weighing out your risks.
I am what most would call a “crunchy, granola, or hippie mom” I am all about being natural. But one fact I must hang on to, is vaccinating saves lives. Autism isn't death. I will vaccinate my children. I’m sorry that it has to be such a tough choice to make, but weighing out the risks does help. Good for you.

I know full well what autism does to a child and their family. I worked with children and teenagers as well as young adults with ASD's some of which did not even talk or were not fully potty trained at 10 years old. I understand how devistating it is. However there is more mercury in a can of tuna fish than in all of the vaccines your child will receive in his lifetime. The studies that come out about vaccines and autism that link them are usually very flawed. Most every dr I have ever spoke with agree that they believe there is a chromosomal/genetic component to autism. I'm not saying you have to vaccinate. I am just trying to explain that your judgement on this is flawed by fear. And that is ok. You are allowed to be afraid!  Every mother who has a child with ASD is afraid. Afraid there child will never lead a happy life, afraid they will one day realize they are different, afraid that they will have another child with this disorder that will rob their child of a normal life. It is a cruel disorder it is not fair that you and your family have to face these daily struggles that come with having a child with autism. I am truly sorry as I know this will forever be a part of your daily life and there is no known cure yet. I pray that one day a cure is found and you can have a normal child who can play grow and learn, developing like all the rest of his peers. I certainly don't judge you for not vaccinating right now. With all the hard facts that are available I couldn't say what I would do in your shoes. I would like to say i would put my fears aside and vaccinate but I can't say that I would. Any mother would want to do anything and everything in her power to avoid having another child diagnosed with autism. Every momma has to do what they feel is right in their heart. And if delaying vaccination is what you feel is right and (which you are) making an educated decision than by all means go for it. I will never be one to tell another mother to ignore her gut instinct, we have that instinct for a reason

i am going to vaccinate! i do not want him getting something but for me i see it as a lose lose situation.... i have read studies a very recent one that does state that the Dtap could be a factor in causing autism..... and all of a sudden the world health organization is talking about taking the mercury out of the shots.... I do not let Ezra go to play groups or anything because he is not vaccinated and i do not want him catching anything... i live in fear everyday that he could catch something that could kill him but i also do not want him getting something that totally ruins his quality of life and that is what autism will do! you cant tell me it wont i see how my middle son and he will never have any normalcy in his life he will never be able to do anything without help....

I did much research and I am confident in my decision to vaccinate, and that vaccines do not cause autism. I also do not let Ellie have play dates with unvaccinated children. Vaccination is the decision of each individual however I am not willing to risk my daughters life becauseof  another child. Polio and other diseases are making a come back because of unvaccinated children. In the US some daycares and many schools will not allow unvaccinated children to attend. My husband also agrees that we will not allow Ellie to play with unvaccinated children. It is a parents choice to vaccinate or not but it is also a parents choice to avoid the risks of unvaccinated children.

Someone mentioned drs who won't take unvaccinated children as patients and I agree with that. They have had cases of unvaccinated children coming to the office sick with something a vaccine can prevent and then children who have not yet received the vaccine for that disease are becoming sick and potentially dying. This has actually happened. So I do agree with drs not wanted to see unvaccinated children. Why should they risk the health and safety of every child in the practice because of one child who's parents did not vaccinate.

Please note I'm not trying to start an arguement or be mean or anything. I know everyone's reasons for vaccinating vs not vaccinating and I'm not judging anyone. Each parent knows what is best for their child and no child is the same

I am getting Lauren her shots as scheduled.  My friend has her son on a delayed shot schedule.  I read an article the other day about drs not wanting to see kids who haven't been vaccinated because they felt it was dangerous to other patients and were actually refusing treatment to them!  I think its s personal decision either way about giving or not giving shots but drs refusing to treat????!! Anyway, I understand why you would want to wait.   My niece is "autistic" supposedly(long story short my sil didn't like the diagnosis she got originally that my neice was slow so she went dr to dr to dr to get them to say autistic because she couldn't be in the autism group at church and slow wasn't a fancy enough diagnosis.. in the meantime my niece went without any kind of help learning skills to help her live a normal life so now she will have to depend in people to help her forever because of her patents!!!!  Sorry tried to make it short lol)so  where am I going with this u ask??? Lol they claim her shots made her that way however even b4 shots u could tell something was off.  Wow so anyway this really had nothing to do with anything but I understand where u r coming from!!! Lol
