Sorry to read of your wife's problems. As I understand it, your wife is complaining of pain and urgency and is noted to have an increased PVR. I would agree with the need for a cystoscopy and would expect the urologist to possible want to have urodynamics done. This test looks at the bladder function and can help determine why she has an increased PVR. Providing she does not have an obvious reason for her PVR, fallen bladder called a cystocele, a work up is necessary. Bladder pain and urgency is often called Interstitial Cystitis of Painful Bladder syndrome. Trabeculations of the bladder are normal to some extent. Cystoscopy will be helpful.
