Nausea

Does anyone have problems with just feeling nausea off and on?  Not hungry some days.  Not on treatment, so its just one of the symptoms I have.   Was wondering if I'm alone on this?

If you have been evaluated by a GI MD and can not find the reason perhaps the answer is as follows: A newly discovered cause has been regular cannabis use. One indicator of this is if nausea goes away after taking a warm shower. Another indication is if an Endoscopy showed inflammation of your stomach lining. Discontinue all cannabis intake, both inhalation and edibles, for two weeks.

Congratulations on successful treatment! I'm happy for you, and I hope your liver heals completely now that you're free of the virus. Thank you for the encouragement to go forward with treatment. The thought of being sick for 24 weeks and going it alone is very scary, but the alternative (doing nothing but waiting and getting sicker) is even scarier!
Now that you're through with treatment and on the road to recovery, I hope you'll continue to be a part of this forum and offer advice and encouragement to newbies like me.
Again, thanks, and all the best to you.
Sue

I think that's a wise decision. The process for getting new drugs on the market can be unpredictable (usually slower than anyone guesses). I'm newly freed from the virus (genotype 1a) after my third attempt finally worked, but my liver was already cirrhotic. I also got it from a transfusion during back surgery in 1984. I had to do 48 weeks if triple tx and it was hell, but I'm really glad I did it. It feels so wonderful to know its finally gone and my liver can start to heal a little!

I have HepC genotype 2. I've decided to stat treatment this year and not wait for the new meds. I've had this nasty virus 35 years, I'm 58, and have a very high viral load. I'm afraid the new meds (sofosbuvir and whatever else they're developing) will be too expensive when they finally get approved by the FDA and are available. I've decided to go with the standard 24-week interferon/ribavirin treatment. I hope it works.

I weigh 164 but since the cellulitis attack and I have been eating lots lately I 14#'s!I know I won't keep it on once I get the edema under control again! So discouraging.I am so careful with the salt and iit does'nt seem to matter at times.I have low blood sodium all the time and I crave salt constantly, don't know if the two are related but sometimes I eat a couple picl=kle chips 150mg. of sodium. It is especially hard since I quit smoking.I used to use pickles to kill cig. craving used dried strawberries to but have none till spring here.At least not organic ones and I don't touch anything but!

Nausea almost all the time, annoying. Used to like ice cold water, now tepid is just fine and  I drink about a gallon a day. Never did like soda or alcohol, always a water drinker anyway. Sometimes green tea. Anyway, it keeps me flushed, better than swelling which I'm trying to avoid. My gut seems to have its own mind and I am just waiting for ascites to strike. I barely eat any salt in anything, better to keep the flow going ya know.

We weigh the same, my ankles are swollen too.  Don't know what's causing that.  Honestly I knew they were puffy before I started the water, don't think retaining water is the issue for me.  Maybe something to do with poor circulation?

Its the melt method by Sue Hitzmann, to eliminate chronic pain.  She believes it stems from the connective tissue not being hydrated.  Saw her on the Dr. Oz show.  It maded sense so I figured I have nothing to lose.  My body is prone to arthuritis, I also was in a bad car accident, your body, is never the same.   Let us know how your appointment goes when you hear the results from your biopsy report.  You are young compared to me, and I think that's a big plus.

Yes, my Doc is good, but is on the fence with me, recommends the biospy, but I don't want that.  I am range2-4, just within the last two years.  I had a complete knee replacement before I jumped over to this range.  Use to have a beer now and then.  Quit dont do that anymore.   Had major back surgery in 82 for a harrington rod, that is when I required blood.  Didn't know I had this till year 2000.  Am a nut about health & my body, so this was pretty hard news for me.  Had them do the blood test three times and the last one I went to a different lab.   I hate the thought of putting that crap in my body, want to wait for the new treatment.

Hi, Christinatas,  I just started the water drinking.  I believe it is helping a great deal.  I just started it as I read some of the exercises I am doing can cause a release of toxics in your body.  I am waiting for the new treatment, I was approved for teatment, but to take care of myself and wait. The treatment is so close to being approved and at my age this treatment is very rough.

What bloodwork was that, a fibrosure? It sounds useless, but frightening at the same time, to be given a range of grade 2-4. The action of the virus in the liver triggers reactions that produce fibrosis, sort of like scar tissue. A score of 0 is no fibrosis, scores of 1-3 are increasing degrees of fibrosis, while 4 is cirrhosis, the end point of the scale. If you have cirrhosis you are at increased risk of both liver cancer and liver failure, both of which are only survivable by having a liver transplant. A range of 2-4 indicates that you have distinct fibrosis at the least, but you may be as far as being on the verge of liver failure. Personally, I would demand a more precise measurement and I would get a treatment plan lined up. You need to know if you are cirrhotic or not before you start tx for two reasons. 1) cirrhotics must treat the full 48 weeks even if they have early response to the meds, and 2) cirrhotics should be monitored more closely during tx because their liver may not be able to handle the meds as well and the risk of more dangerous sx is greater. Are you seeing a good hepatologist?

Are you drinking? Just wondering about your lifestyle. But I too would recommend talking to a doc.

It's not a symptom I had (except while on tx) but I think the virus itself causes that in some people. I think it is especially likely in the early acute phase and also when the disease is more advanced, but probably other times to a lesser extent. Have you had a biopsy yet? Are you getting regular exams by your hepatologist or gastroenterologist? You need those at least once a year, and more frequently  if your liver disease has progressed farther. I'd recommend asking your doctor about this.
