Dear Helen:

It's great that you have noticed this and give us all not only an addt'l option, but at the same time excellent weapon to fight this disease. I pray that it will stabilize you if not put you back in remission. I perfectly understand the concern on Avastin.

Dear Alan:

Your website looks great. Just want to suggest a correction, what you meant is "intended" not "indented" (just a small oversight under your disclaimer).

After reading this great article, I showed it to my oncologist today. She was VERY impressed with this study. This may be my next chemo.

I am going to try the Carbo/Taxotere. I feel comfortable with this. Last time, it was 2 years ago. Once and for all, we will give it another chance. If it doesn't I'll move on to this combination.

Jatoo-I have talked with my oncologist, my NYU neurosurgeon and the NYU oncologist. They are afraid to put me on Avastin right now (brain).

Alan--good luck with another oncologist.

Thanks so much for all the good information.

If that analysis/research on hormonal drugs, etc. make sense and could help other patients go ahead. You just have to qualify with a statement that we are not giving any medical advice but purely stating an opinion.

I think there will come a time when right after surgery and first-line treatment, hormonal drugs will be given as maintenance to prevent or lengthen recurrence.

All the best in your web page.

Thanks!  We are actually going to get a referral to another oncologist this Friday, the one she had/has didn't even seem too interested in this study.

I agree with you...this is a HUGE response rate.  Considering the fact that after first line chemo, any other chemo by itself has a less than 15% chance of working, this is big.  But I think it opens up what you have been researching as well which is different combinations (speaking of, if you are ever interested in posting that stuff up on my site let me know!).  Who knows what happens if they include hormonal treatment as well or phenoxodiol when it gets approved.

I remember that back in 2001 the ACS posted an article showing that weekly carboplatnim had a response rate on plat-resist ovca patients.  I think this is why the phenoxodiol trial includes weekly carbo so there is some possible chance of response.

Dear Alan:

I am amazed why nobody gave you a comment on this one. But for Platinum-resistant this is BIG news,  because for the first time (besides weekly Taxol) research have shown that Platinum-resistant patients can go back to a Platinum drug using Oxaliplatin (Eloxatin). This is the same drug that was recommended to us from UCLA as an alternative (Oxaliplatin plus Avastin) just in case our present treatment may have to be changed in the future.

This is also BIG news in the sense that the response rate is not only excellent, but tremendous (98%). It also showed further that adding something to Doxil or Gemzar or Topotecan can increase the rate of response exponentially. I 'm sorry for your mom. Hoping that she would be able to make use of this combo sooner.

But thanks for this update.
