Lumps behind tonsil

Hello, while recently looking for tonsil stones I noticed a couple of lumps on the skin behind my tonsils (I'm not sure what that area is called?). I've had the feeling of something in my throat, so that is why I was checking for the stones. I didn't find any stones, but I'm curious about the lumps. They don't hurt, per se, but I'm not sure if they're supposed to be there. I've had heartburn for the past few years, could that be the cause of them? I though maybe cancer, but with 3 separate lumps a few centimeters apart, that didn't make a ton of sense.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi, bumps on the back of the throat are most often caused by some sort of irritation. In response to that irritation the body tries to protect itself by creating mucous and by sending infection fighting cells to the area. So, it could be due to GERD. Other causes for the bumps could be due to canker sores, these are painful. Others are due to warts, Kawasaki disease and leukoplakia. But there is usually some amount of inflammation with these conditions. If the bumps become painful or if there is discoloration or if they increase in size consult your doctor for an evaluation. Charles did you ever find out what this was? I have the same exact thing and I can see your tongue also has thick white coating on it, I have that too. If you figured it out please let me know

I believe this comes from an Oral hpv infection. I’m no doctor but am suffering from an almost exact same condition and I have narrowed it down to being hpv.
