Gout for 4 months?

Hello~I am 53 years old I have been diagnosed with gout even though a blood test for uric acid came out negative.   I have had terrible inflammation in my metatarsal phalangeal joint and the smaller joint closer to the tip of my big toe.  I have had a cortisone shot in each.  I don't drink, eat shellfish and have a mostly plant based diet.  I do have hypertension however and am terrified that maybe I have hurt my kidneys because I take the lowest dose of hypertension medicine.  Of maybe my liver because I take between 325-500mg acetaminophen every night for the chronic neck tension I have had?  Scared and grasping at straws.  I just had a physical and my blood tests came out normal.  I do forget to drink water throughout the day but have started that.  I have also had a lot of stress lately.  Anyway, any ideas?  Would be grateful for any insight.  I am athletic, normal weight and this is freaking me out.  Thanks so much!

Hello!

Unfortunately, sometimes you can have normal levels of uric acid in blood and still can have gout. This was my case as well. Just follow the gout diet, I believe your doctor told you what to eat and what to avoid. I was taking a natural treatment for my gout and it helped me put it under control. Fell great now!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,
Gout is diagnosed on the basis of several criteria. The medical history ,symptoms ,joint examination and tests like blood tests and X-rays are important for accurate diagnosis. Many healthy people without gout have high uric acid levels in their blood, while others who experience an attack of gout have a normal level. Other differentials for monoarticular arthritis are pseudogout, bursitis, septic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis etc.Consult your doctor and discuss above possibilities. Hope it helps.
Take care and regards!
