Yours is a complex situation. I doubt that the alleged ophthalmic vein varix is related to the sx of rhinosinusitis but suspect that the imbalance and swelling behind your eye are. An MRA would help determine the feasibility of surgical intervention. If feasible you should then have a candid conversation regarding the risk of surgery, the likelihood that surgery would relieve your symptoms and the odds that, if not surgically addressed, the varix might present with complications and, yes, it is possible to have cellulitis behind one's eyes . In my reading I noted that there is a reported association with venous anomalies intracranially which may or may not directly communicate with the varix 1.
As for the rhinosinusitis , I am impressed with the temporal relationship of your exposure to cat dander and the onset of symptoms. This suggests a possible cause and effect relationship. And, in addition, there may well have been other substances in the house you cleaned that could cause a chronic allergic reaction in your sinuses.
I believe there a possibility that your problem with rhino-sinusitis is in the realm of allergy/immunology and that you may have Allergic Fungal Sinusitis. You may want to get a second opinion from an allergist/immunologist.
Good luck
Dr. Tinkelman, Thank you so much for you very informative reply. New York interventionalist said...I was probably born with varix vein, if so, nothing can be done. Would allergy injections help, esp. at my age? My allergist/immunologist has no idea what's causing my problem, extremely helpful & thorough but never said allergy injections, yet different allergist/immunologist.. said get injections, very confusing.
Infected again this week...face intense pain. Only Option
see a Nurse Pract.(ent) scoped nostrils..left vv. infected, Amox-Cl 875..,20 pills
.LAST INFECT:Oct17th,given 28 pills, ended Nov. 13th, which means ..only 3 WEEKS LATER, INFECTED AGAIN?. Is this reason enough to get allergy shots?...I never had this problem until last 3yrs. v.v. odd.
This AM my 6th pill and I awoke 7am with facial pain (trigeminal Neur. ruled out) cheek/red swelling/left and pressure to left eye (neil med only help)...face is numb, eyes squeezed feeling, cheekbone inflamed (mostly left) nose burns. I feel that Amox, Avelox, other antib's I've taken are not working, possible immune to them? I tell the drs. "you kick this problem a bit.. ..BUT NOT OUT TO THE CURB.
MAC?, IS THAT POSSIBLE/cough? But ct scan shows only nodules
..Pulmonologist scar/nodules stable on lungs, no change since 2011,re-check within 1yr.... (not smoker/drinker/no tb/whooping cough/child)
I stopped Singular/Xyzal,, I felt, not working,. Do you think I should stay one them, would that help?... I went to Col.Presy. in NY, who said "chronic sinusitis should not feel like this. He tried injecting my ganglion nerve after scoping, touched tip of nerve, I felt same burning pain I feel all the time in my nose..never felt that before from other ent's scoping.. Lidocaine did not help,2 x's.injections
If it did numb it..then he would take me OR do surgery, didn't help.. Radiologists (all) said..do not get injections thru the neck to numb the ganglion nerve, v.v. dangerous. Neurologist said to leave ev/thing alone for a bit. .Easy to say, hard to endure.
I truly appreciate your input more than I can express.I HOPE ev/day to find the solution to getting back to being "MYSELF" trying to enjoy my g/kids/family. I will consider seeing another allergist & speak to my Primary regarding your input.
Thank God for doctors like you that reply to this forum...I hope you understand all of this . Any reply would be very helpful.
Very Grateful,
Kate
Keeping you and yours in my prayers and extremely grateful for your input.
