Leg, back, and erectile problems

I'm really not sure where to post this, and I will try to give you as much info as I can. I am a 35 yr old male about 5'10" 200lbs. I have been healthy my whole life with no major issues up until a few months ago. I have since started to have pain mainly in my right leg. The pain, cramping, or discomfort, has been mainly in my calf and on the top right side of my thigh. I have also had some tingling in my foot on occasion. I have now developed some lower back pain that is not consistent, but comes and goes. I have also noticed some tingling feelings on my right arm(not often, and not even sure if it is related). During this time I am also experiencing pain/discomfort in the tip of my penis, along with the tip often being very cold to the touch. I am also having an increasingly difficult time getting and maintaining an erection, and even experiencing some pain/discomfort after ejaculation. I will include that About a week or two before these issues started I did have 1 unprotected sexual experience with a woman, who swears she has been tested and was clean. I was worried at first and was tested for chlamydia/gono/hsv2/and an early HIV test about a month after the encounter, all negative. I know I should probably be retested for hsv2 now as it seems you should wait about 3 months after exposure and again, not sure if these issues would be related, or if timing is just coincidental. I will also add that the majority of my leg pain occurs while I am sitting or sometimes walking. It seems to go away,or be very minimal while laying down, or while in a hot shower. I also run 1-2 miles a day, and do not experience much or any pain while running or exercising. I hope this is enough information to start with. I'm not sure if this is a urology issue, prostate problem, nerve damage, circulation issue, std? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I can understand your concern for the leg, calf and back pain and the difficulty in erection. One important point to note is that you are having this pain when sitting and the pain is not there when walking or running. This decreases the possibility of any circulatory or vascular problem in which the pain typically increases when walking, running or exercising.

A variety of conditions can lead to leg pain that is aggravated by sitting. These include Disc erosion, tightening of the piriformis muscle due to imbalances in the hip rotator muscles, sciatic nerve impingement, also called sciatica and pain from nerve injury (neuropathy).

In nutshell, most of the conditions are caused by neurological causes due to spine issues. Amongst these sciatica is characterized by symptoms of pain radiating downward from the buttock over the posterior or lateral side of the lower limb. It is caused by certain positions are usually associated with continually holding a poor posture either at home or at work. Erection occurs due to conduction of nerev impulses from the brain via the spinal nerves. Any problem with the spinal nerves will cause difficulty in erection. Apart from that, in general it will cause pain, tingling, numbness or burning sensation.

Imaging methods such as MR Neurography, MRI spine and nerve conduction velocity testing may be needed to confirm the diagnosis. To rule out any prostatitis get your prostate specific antigen (PSA levels) also done. Prostatitis can also cause pain at tip of penis but it does not cause calf or back pain or any tingling. Hence it is a less likely possibility. However do get your blood sugar levels, vitamin B 12 levels and thyroid levels checked as diabetes and deficiency of vitamin B12 and thyroid hormones can cause tingling and numbness.

Hope that this information helps and hope that you will get better soon.

Wishing you good health.

Thank you for the reply. I will be seeing a physician soon about the issues I am having. I often read that nerve pain will cause a pain that shoots down the buttocks and then down the back of the leg to the foot. I do not seem to have any real discomfort in my buttocks, my pain is mostly in the top side of my thigh, and then in my calf in the right leg? Does this still sound consistent with the nerve damage? Also, do you think it is safe to say that the sexual encounter I had is coincidental? I have read some about hsv2 and leg/nerve pain?
