pregnant and sick

My husband and I just found out Christmas Eve we're expecting. Were 5weeks and I am now sick. It hit me yesterday. Stuffy nose turned into a runny nose. Woke up with a sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, headache, some nosy aches. Our weather has changed drastically where I live and I have allergies and get sick at the drop of a hat, but now that I'm pregnant, I can't just take medicine like normal.

My question is, what medicine can I take while pregnant to get rid of this sickness. Please keep in mind I'm unable to swallow pills, so I have to use liquid. Thanks!

I am 7 weeks, I found out the day before christmas eve. My boyfriend the me bronchitis, not long after Christmas. We went to the hospital (because I don't have a regular doctor) and they said I couldn't take any liquid cough medicine. But if you call your doctor, they should be able to at least recommend something safe for you. Just because they don't want to see you until 9 weeks, dorsnt mean you don't have questions.

Your doctor wont see you until 9 weeks?!?!? Thats crazy... you need to get a new doctor... my doctor saw me at 4 weeks and made sure of it because I have high blood pressure. They needed to switch my medication because the one I was on wasn't safe for a baby and they got me in that day. The only thing you can really take is Tylenol and if you have allergies you can take Claritin and Allegra... I have really bad allergies and Claritin doesnt work for me and I'm intolerant to Allegra... I was on a prednisone steroid shot for them but cant do that again until im not pregnant or BFing... so I have to suffer through it :(  best of luck to you and I hope you feel better. And congrats on the pregnancy

I think I spoke too soon. My throat got sore and my nose is plugged up again. I used a chloraseptic throat spray and it seemed to help. I haven't been to the doctor yet, because my doctor won't see me until 9wks. Ill be 6weeks tomorrow. So I've got awhile.

Take vitamins every day! I was also always sick but since being pregnant now week 34 i havent been sick once. I was told i could take paracetamol and use some natural oils like eucalyptus to inhale but that was it. I have had a sore throat once for 2 days.. I really think the prenatals help!

I was sick too in my second trimester.  All I do is drink warm water with lemon and honey I did some neti pot morning and before bedtime and took a warm bath morning and bedtime. It's the best and safest medicine for both mom and baby

Thanks ladies! I feel better now, without taking any medicine. But I'm still planning to find out since I get sick more than I'm healthy.
