FNAC result

Dear SIR/Madam,

We done the additional tests after mammogra. We had done FNAC also. The result has come. In this result they mentioned as,

HISTOPATHOLOGY

Clinical Diagnosis :
Left  breast lump for evaluation
Specimen Site :
A.Right axillary lymphnode  B.Left breast biopsy
Gross :
A.Received? tissue very scanty material. A/E
B.Received? tissue very very tiny material soft tissue bit (M) 0.1cc. A/E

Microscopy  :
A.Very tiny fragments of lymphoid tissue.
B.Very tiny fragments of fibrocollagenous tissue with minimal inflammatory cell infitltration.
COMMENT : Rebiopsy is indicated if clinically suspicious of malignancy.
Clinical and radiological correlation is essential.

CYTOLOGY

USG GUIDED FNAC LEFT BREAST
Specimen Received Nature :
4 Slides
Microscopy  :
Suboptimal for evaluation due to lack of cellular yield.
Smears show only cellular element of blood.

MAMMOGRA TEST impression.

1.large lobulated calcific in the retroareolar region of left breast ? involuted fibroadenoma

2.enlarged right axillary node with irregular margins and loss of fatty hilum- suggested fnac correlation

Kindly suggest on this please.

Hi Joe,
Sorry for the delay in response.  This sounds like a benign finding in the breast.  Fibroadenomas are benign lesions that won't cause harm in the long run.  The pathology report says basically that they don't have a lot of tissue to look at but that there isn't anything bad in what they see.  Hope that this helps!
