Craptastic Pseudomonas !!!

I started having issues with my ears in aug. 2013, started with them just feeling "full", then it turned into me having retracted ear drums... I went to see an ENT (after MANY) attempts to have my normal Dr. Figure out what was going on, and many courses of antibiotics.  ENT did hearing test, looked in my ears, confirmed ear drums were retracted, and I got more antibiotics... This went on for 7 mths.... In March of 2014, my ENT suggested I get balloon sinuplasty to open my sinuses, and fix my deviated septum, in mid march I had the surgery. It helped for the first few days after the surgery, but then I started having this awful smell/taste... I swear it was like smelling fermented old beer or wine!!! It was disgusting! At my 1 week post OP APPOINTMENT , my ENT INFORMED ME THAT I HAD PSEUDOMONAS ( lab results confirmed with the cultures they took at the time of surgery). He started me on levequin 500mg/ once a day & a course of steroids, the next week I went back to see him and I could barely breath thru my nose, so he also prescribed me a nasal flush compound of levequin/tobermycin. I took the FULL course of levequin 14days, as well as the full course of the nasal flush. On April 8th I had finished both meds. Got married/ went on honeymoon and symptoms started up again mid way thru honeymoon which we were out of the US at that time. Came back on April 20th, called my ENT, I was prescribed bactrim... April 25th had to go to ER, I was sent home with cipro, took the cipro 750mg every 12 hrs (which has made me sick) and on that Sunday night I was back in the ER, I was admitted into the hospital, I had vomiting, weak, shaky, couldn't stand up, all I wanted to do was sleep. I was miserable!!!! Once in the hospital I had another ct scan done, blood work (white blood cell ct was 122, low), lukacyts were low.... And my blood pressure was at 82/44. I am 38, 5'5 and  119lbs. I have ALWAUS been very healthy, until this sinus/ear/pseudomonas crap! The Infectious Desease Dr. Ran test on me for mono/ HIV-1 & HIV-2, among many other tests ALL of the blood work came bsvk neg. As of today I had another culture extracted in office to send to the lab, my sinuses are still inflamed and I am starting ANOTHER round of steroids to help. And at least get me thru until next week when I go back to my ENT to see what the results of the culture are. I still have the gross smell/ taste, but now I have become dizzy/ can't focus well/ brain is foggy/ eyes are dry and feel like there is sand in them sometimes/ my neck hurts/ can't sleep/ the base of my skull hurts/ I am tired/ some times it feels like I can't catch my breath/ heart feels like it is going to jump out of my chest/ and my head feels so heavy and full- almost like there is swelling that is pushing from the inside out!! This is driving me CRAZY!!! I have an infectious desease Dr as well that I am seeing, and both the OD Dr.  an my ENT say to let's wait an see what comes of the test results and to start taking the steroids.

Is there ANYTHING that cures this crap??? Next step is to try IV antibiotics... Will these get rid of this crap??  If the IV antibiotics don't help I will have to have another surgery to remove some of the tissue in my sinuses, and make the openings of my sinuses even bigger... As of today my snot is clear/ but VERY sticky, and I can still the sweet sickly smell and taste the metal! What are the best IV antibiotics to use, are dual therapy or using 3 antibiotics better? Is the sign of clear snot a sign that the pseudomonas is gone???

I'm just so tired of feeling so crappy for so long.

I'm pretty much the exact same situation right now with the pseudomonas but I dont think it affected my ears. Im on IV antibiotics (zosyn). Its only been 24 hours so Im hoping they help. Did you finally get rid of the pseudomonas ?

I see you wrote this awhile ago, but it sounds like they gave you the pseudomonas when they did the surgery. I got mine in my lungs when they sent me for a bronchoscopy.  It's a well known hospital given bacteria because they don't clean their plastic instrurments properly. It's a colonizer and so far seems to be no way to get rid of it. -Of course they will not take responsibility for it. - Sending you healing prayers and hope you have had some relief since you first wrote.
