mucus plug

So I know losing your plug doesn't mean your going into labor but is it a sign your cervix is dilating?

Thank you! I've been diliated at 1 since 36 weeks but still high and and thick. So at about 38 and a half weeks I started losing my plug so I'm hoping that means I'm dilating more out at least softening and thinning

I believe it is a sign that your cervix is softening and you are starting to efface/dialate.. but like you said it doesn't indicate labour, it could still be days or weeks away.
I was 1cm at check up on Wednesday and last night I started loosing my mucus plug.. I am overdue 40w3d tomorrow, so I hope something happens soon!

I started loosing mine at like 34 weeks. And when I was checked at 36w I was just 1cm and remain at 1cm at 39w but my doc said most 2nd time moms will naturally be at 1cm (not saying you are one this is just what my doc said about me) so it doesn't mean anything. So I am guessing u can but I am not 100%.
