raised right hemi diaphragm with shortness of breath and chest pain

to cut the story short here goes - had house fire 2 months ago where i breathed in only a little bit of smoke, i fell down stairs running out and landed heavily on my back. it wasn't unitl that night i started to cough heavily an bring up a lot of nasty looking gunk, i also had pain in the middle of my chest just beneath the breast bone. i went to the hosp they gave me antibiotics and thats all.i was to and fro to the doctors for over a month before he sent me to the hosp for an x-ray. it showed that my right diaphrsagm was raised and refered me to a spcialist. they were going to look into it and whilst waiting the coughing imoroved but the chest pain and shortness of breath got worse and my doctor adnitted me to hospital. i was in hospital for just under three weeks. whilst there i had all sorts of scans and lung function tests. i was told that i would need surgery to bring the diaphragm back down. i was in hospital a week after beng told that before a different doctor turned around and said i would have to wait 6 weeks before she would consider recommendig me for this.(as you may or may not be aware but in the u.k. there are huge waiting lists for surgery)this different octor also told me that it was not important to resolve it. even though i am often in agony. they sent me home from the hospital with tablet form morphine, liquid morphine, paracetamol and ibuprofen for pain refiel and told to wait for an out-patient appointment. i have been at home now for 3 days and am finding it extremely difficult to cope. the pain is not easing at all. i am extremely worried that two doctors can have such different opinions on my injury.  any advice you could give me would be much appreciated.

Obviously since this is a persistent problem, I would recommend seeing a third specialist for another opinion.  It is not clear as to the exact cause of the pain and if it directly related to the change in the diaphragm you are describing.  Another opinion from someone who can see the x-rays and perform a physical examination is the best next step.
