High morning blood sugar readings

I have been diagnosed prediabetic in the last 6 months due to a slightly elevated A1C and both my parents are type 2. I'm 51 years old.  I'm not currently taking meds, opting to lose weight, diet, and exercise instead.  Now that I'm eating low carb, I'm trying  to understand why 2 hours after meals my blood sugar is typically between 70 and 90 but nearly every morning after fasting all night it's typically 102-115.  I've read about the dawn phenomenon and wonder if this is the cause.  Does anyone know how to help control the dawn phenomenon?

Thank you.  I have read that so I do typically have a protein snack before bed. For example, last night my reading was 70 before going to bed so I had some nuts and cheese.  When I got up this morning, BG was 102.  Still trying to understand what would make my numbers jump 32 points while fasting.  Doesn't make sense to me.

Congrats on taking control of your diabetes.
Some find that a high protein/fat snack (cheese and peenutbutter) before bed helps with DP
