treatment or not

I recently had thyroid studies done, my TSH was 6.4 and my FT4 was 0.9. My primary care repeated them after 3 weeks and my TSH was 4.0 ( the first blood drawn was am fasting the later being late afternoon ) She is willing to treat my symptoms with zoloft, skelaxin, ambien PRN and ativan PRN and also citracil. Should I be concerned that thyroid issues could be causing my any symptoms and should treatment be tried?

Woud look at thyroid antibodies to document what is likely Hashimoto's with mild hypothyroidism.  A TSH >3 in the presene of antibodies for an otherwise young/healthy person is probably not normal and a trial of thyroid medication could be considered.

It sounds to me like your doctor is avoiding the obvious. Did she bother testing for thyroid antibodies?
