Many chose a new way of eating (WOE), LCHF  (Low Carb High Fat).  as diabetics it is carbs that raise BG, eating low carb works well for controlling BG.  The "eat low fat" mantra is based on BAD science.   even the US CDC says cholesterol in the diet is not a concern.  Also when carbs are removed from the diet then some other form of energy is needed... fat.  I eat under 50 gr of carbs a day and have been since 2000.

Hi JMst. The intermittent fasting and  Ketogenic diet is working great for me. Eating two times a day 12 pm and 6 pm. Look in youtube: "Dr Eric Berg intermittent fasting"

If you want to lose weight and keep it off you will need to change your lifestyle with regard to how and what you consume. A great way to do this is by the Agaston or South beach diet . You are gauranteed to lose weight if you follow each of the stages . It provides a structured way to lose weight but also to keep it off .

Similar to diabetes86, I would recommend a low carb  diet.

However, when trying to lose weight one should not go overboard on the fat (if you eat too much fat you are less likely to lose it).

I recommend low carb (20 - 50 g a day), moderate protein (approx. 0.8 - 1 g / kg of body weight), and the fat that comes naturally with the selected foods; enough that you are not hungry.

Note: you must not eat low fat foods - eat regular fat foods, use butter, oil reasonably in cooking, choose fatty meat cuts, avocado, etc).
