Cholesterol Med change...freaking out! help?

I was originally on Simvastatin 20mg at night for a few years but I have missed here and there. my Dr changed me to Lipitor 40mg the other statin medication and since starting it one night ago, I've experienced some pain in my chest...not so much on the right side.

is this normal?

My bad cholesterol was evelevated which is why I was changed. but can't I just exercise or does taking the medication have to happen to bring it down?

If you are having chest pains, always call your doctor- it's important to get checked out and not mess around with chest pains of any kind.  Also, when you switch medications or are just taking a new one- report any changes to your doctor.

Exercise can be a big help, but you don't want to just stop taking medication.  If you have reservations about it- talk to your doctor and see if you can come up with a plan for addressing the issue with a goal of no medication.
