Hi there, my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the head of the pancreas in June 2016. He passed away with pancreatic cancer in March 2017. At the time of diagnosis he had jaundice and bile duct obstruction. The bile duct had to be removed through surgery and that was the time when the pancreatic tumour was discovered. By January 2017, there was metastasis of the pancreatic cancer which had spread to the liver and lungs as nodules could be seen in the liver and lungs.
At the time of the removal of the bile duct, the doctor tried to remove the tumour but the latter was unresectable which seemed to suggest that it was stage 3 pancreatic cancer.
My question is as follows: For how long had the pancreatic cancer been delveloping at the head of the pancreas? Can anybody give an estimation of how long it took for the stage 3 pancreatic tumour to develop at the head of the pancreas?
Thank you
