If I test positive for hep C recently can I still get the Hep A and B vaccinations?
I am traveling and there is an outbreak of Hep A can I get the Hep A and/or hep B vaccines ?
He was tested no results yet hopefully tomorrow. I’m getting my vaccines tomorrow.

Ok I am just a little confused. Did you have the 11 on the hep C antibody test or your friend? I thought you wanted your hep C positive friend who lives in a half way house to get vaccinated?
He can and should be vaccinated and hep B is a series of shots so he has to come back a couple of times to complete the series.
There is no reason to delay being vaccinated because someone has hep c it is actually recommended to be vaccinated against A and B if you have hep C. Having one form of hepatitis is a reason for vaccination as you can not afford multiple hepatitis infections.

It’s not for me it is for my friend. He doesn’t have insurance and I just want him to get vaccinated because he is living in a halfway house and why wait if he can get vaccinated? The doctors really don’t have a clue.

About 25% of people are able to beat the virus on their own without treatment but will still test positive for the virus.
The only way to know your infection status is to have the HCV RNA test. The next step would be to get treated and cured of the hep c virus.
