Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Hey all!! I am here to seek some help and advice if possible. :/ I am having anxiety from past couple of years and had a panic attack a couple of time. I am 23 now and an OCD patient(mild type of) as well.. last week I was worrying about my bladder, even though that was all fine. Just I took more fluids and resulted in frequent urination. I went to doc, tried antibiotics, muscle relaxants but I knew I am fine  but could not help myself. It is now I am worried about my blood pressure. It shows up between 125-130/70-80 mmhg. But I cant read it as I watch the needle going down I start panicking about it. As it throbs at 130 or 125 I feel extremely anxious and the cycle begins. I had started fluoxetine and a BP set on my table and checking it every 10-30 minutes. Plus I have an exam up coming. Anyone feeling the same kindly share your thoughts though I talked to my Doctor sister and she yelled at me that am all fine but just lame excuses for studying. :(

How long have you been on the Prozac?  It takes a few weeks to notice if it's going to work or not is why I'm asking.  If you find you're getting more anxious, not less, this might not be the best choice for you, and it's good advice to see a psychiatrist if this is your general doc doing this.  It may take some experimentation with both therapy and medication to find what works.  What I'm wondering about is why you're monitoring your blood pressure at all -- did a doctor advise you to do that?  Have you had any problems?  Also wondering, as specialmom is, why you were put on antibiotics if you had not infection -- was a urinalysis done?  I'm wondering that because, if you've got a doctor treating you for what you don't have, you need a new doctor.  As for your sister yelling at you, don't know obviously what's going on and what the history is here but sometimes others don't want to believe mental illnesses are just like any other illness.  When I was young and just getting problems, my family didn't believe in it either -- I'm old and that was more common then than it is now.  You just have to explain to people what's up and if they can't understand you can't let them determine for you how you feel.  You're at an age when mental illness tends to break out if it's going to, but being young is an advantage as therapy done promptly can more often work without needing a lot of medication.  Gets harder the longer you have the problem.  Best of luck.

So, you do clearly have anxiety going on.  I'm surprised a doctor went ahead and prescribed antibiotics and muscle relaxers when you knew you were fine or maybe I'm missing what you are saying there.  I think you need to get rid of your BP monitor.  It's causing more stress than it is helping.  When you said you started taking fluoxetine, do you mean just now?  The first step is always to have a physical and rule out any cardiac issues or concerns (as well as other health concerns) and then view ANXIETY as the problem just as you view all of the illnesses and health problems you fear as the problem.  You should see a psychiatrist to manage medication and a psychologist to provide therapy/ coping skills, ways to overcome this outside of taking medicine.  Constantly convincing yourself that something is wrong with your health will eventually take a toll.  good luck
