Am I at risk for HIV?

I am female, and I had a sexual encounter last night which was unprotected. I am freaking out because I am in a relationship and felt that last night was a lapse in judgement after a huge fight with my boyfriend.
So with this guy last night, he gave me oral, and we proceeded to have intercourse, but after maybe 4-5 strokes I asked him to stop because we didn't have a condom, so he did and slipped out of me, without ejaculating. He fell asleep with his penis against my vagina for a while and I'm sure there was pre-cum. He is a white male, 35, straight and never had receptive anal sex, claims to have never used injected drugs, and was just out of a 5-year, committed relationship before he met me. He said his last STI test (including HIV) was about 8 months ago and was all clear, but he had sex with his ex-wife maybe 4-5 months ago. How likely is it that he has HIV and may have transmitted it to me? I am very anxious and thinking of getting PEP. Thanks so much.

To answer the question you have last asked, the risk is very low.  The statistic is .08% for receptive vaginal sex (you as the receiving partner).  So, less than 1%.  Hope that eases your mind a lot.  You'll still need to test but keep that low statistic in mind.

I'm sorry to ask again, but is there a medical professional here who can answer my question? What are  the odds of me getting HIV from this encounter? I am feeling sick to my stomach and really not able to sleep the past 3 days. Thank you so much..

Doctors left here long ago.
Symptoms are not used to diagnose because any negative person can have those symptoms. Therefore no one can give you the real odds because you are just one person and the statistics are meant for large groups of people who did the exact same thing you did - it is like the person who goes to Vegas and wins while millions of others don't - statistics would have predicted when he walked in the casino that he would not win.

Hi! Trust the advice you've already been given. It is sound and accurate. 28 days take a 4th Gen combination test and you'll be set. The odds are greatly in your favor. I would explain why but it's just a bunch of medical Epidemiology, biologic, and pathology.

I really wouldn't mind the epidemiology, biology, and pathology, really. I will get tested, but seriously, I am just completely freaking out. I would love an answer and explanation about my odds, as articles I've browsed on google has not given me any sense or idea about how much at risk I am, and I'm so scared I'll get HIV.

None if he didn't have sex from his last window period until with you, so that is what I would focus on to try to relax until you do a test in 4 weeks.
His last test was 8-9 months ago and he had sex with his ex wife about 4-5 months ago. I don't know if his ex wife gave him anything :( I am so stressed right now :(
Can you get either him or her to test?
He said he would, and he said he'll be very surprised if anything is a problem. He's been a bit distant though, given that it was a one time thing, and probably because I'm super anxious right now :(
If either of them test negative now, then you don't have to.
He said the earliest he can test is probably next week, as he has to make an appointment with his GP first. But as I said, he's been distant. This conversation happened the morning after we had sex, and he seems a bit put off by how anxious I was..
He can't go to a walk in clinic? Anyway if he tests next week that is 3 weeks less worry for you to wait through.
True. He said he's always tested through his GP and prefers it, for some reason. I hate having to lose more sleep :(
No need for a duo for him. He can do an Oraquick at home since it is past 3 months when it is conclusive.
He's not replying any of my messages now :(
I haven't added, I'll be going to a third world country in less than two weeks as part of my work, and I'll be away for 4 months. Not sure I can get an HIV duo test there, but they do have the usual HIV antibody test :(

Though a single and isolated incident of unprotected sex does not carry a very significant risk, however it can not be taken as "zero" either.

Unprotected sex with anyone, outside your mutually committed monogamous relationship is a risk, whose health status is not known to us. We are not sure about the exact number and nature of the exposures of our "one night stand" partner.

Unprotected penetration does carry the risk, with or without ejaculation and regardless of its duration, because precum is also considered as an infectious body fluid.

Since you exposed yourself to a risk, we suggest you to get yourself tested to exclude yourself from the possibility of an infection. A 4th generation HIV Duo test would do it when done after 4 weeks of the exposure.

You have many odds in your favor and there is a very strong possibility that your partner is clean and uninfected, that eliminates your risk because one can not give something he does not have. However this requires a test to confirm.

The best friend of a girl is always a condom, not her boy friend. Next time never ever unprotected with anyone, outside your mutually committed long term relationship.

Its hard to predict if someone has HIV or not.

You had unprotected, recepitive sex, so you are at a risk of HIV IF he had it.

You need to wait around 28 days for any sort of test to be accurate regarding status, so theres no point in getting tested right this instant. PEP certainly would reduce your chance

PEP has health risks and is generally prescribed only when the other person is known to have HIV. Oral is not a risk for HIV so you only had 5 strokes of risk with a person who only had one risk since his test.
Hi AnxiousNoMore, thank you for your comment. I am just worried because I've been reading about window periods and all.
