hiv anxiety after one night unprotected sex

Dear Dr

first of all thanks for the great services and information on this site its helped me learn more about hiv things I never took into account before and I will use wisely in the future.

I had oral sex then protected vaginal sex with a Brazilian sex worker. she removed the condom for oral and then put it in her vagina I didn't realise this and we had sex for 2/3 minutes I didn't not ecjaulate as I noticed the condom on the floor.

1. Im wondering what the risk of transmission from this one time risk event I recently came out of a long term relationship and know that there was no HIV present before this event.

I woke up the very next day with a white coated tongue and started symptom searching day 5 I have now had different symptoms

Day one white tounge
day two slight aches and pains
day 3 slight fatigue loss of appetite
day 4 burning under one armpit and a strange pain in the groin
day 5 diarrhea slight headache
day 6 a itchy sensation and noticed bruising.

i know people don't say go by symptoms but i already suffer from anxiety before this incident so my mind is racing and am constantly checking while i wait for the window period.

2 what is the likelihood that this is acute HIV infection symptoms? or is my mind causing them.

thanks very much for input from anyone.

Our members have answered you already, symptoms are not used to diagnose HIV. You will have to test.  Please consult your doctor or a clinic for testing at the appropriate time.  Until then, discussing symptoms and escalating anxiety is not helpful.  We wish you the best and remind you as our members have also stated, a one time exposure is low risk for HIV transmission.

It’s now day 13 all my symptoms had disappeared from about day 7. But this morning I woke up and noticed a slight rash in the join of my right arm. It could be a heat rash as it is hot in England right now.

After this I went full cycle under my arms are burning again my face feel burning am itchy is this just stress again or am I genuinely starting seroconversion?? I have 2 weeks until I can test and am starting to go crazy again with it all.

You had oral sex then protected sex, neither of which is a risk for HIV. What makes you think you had a risk? Because your story is not clear.

No I had protected sex then the condom was removed for oral sex. Then returned to vaginal penetration without protection. There for it’s a risk
It wasn't clear in your post that there was any unprotected sex in this situation. But in that case I agree that you had a risk. So just get a test, collect your results and move on. No sense in tearing your hair out about it.
Easier said than done when I had all these symptoms the following week! I appreciate what you are saying though. And I plan to get tested. Was wondering if it was possible or ars to happen so fast?

As far as i know.symptoms typically appear 2- 4 weeks post exposure. That too not in everyone..so these what you are saying are not hiv symptoms.
Stay relaxed.
Anxiety cause situation worse .

Thanks very much for your reply. Yeah I think the anxiety is making me search for the problems. I was also given ciprofloxacino by a doctor after I done all the other sti checks he thought that it was all from a UTI that was on day 3.
I was i same situation as ypurs waiting for window period to be done..can co relate with you.
All the symptoms seem to have passed now! Is it safe to say it was ARS related? Also I read the side effects of the ciprofloaxine and they cause itching and diarrhea and sensitivity to sunlight. I think that may have been the cause of a lot of the symptoms which increased my worry.
Symptoms are meaningless and you are best to stop trying to chart them. Some people are asymptomatic, anyone can have those symptoms, etc.

No, but I think it will just gives people more to worry about so I don't follow those statistics. You are one person and statistics are useful for large numbers of people with many occurrences. If she is negative then you can't get HIV no matter what the statistics show, so that is what I would focus on to try to relax
Thanks very much for your input I never even looked at it in the fact she might not have it.

You know symptoms aren't useful for diagnosis so that can't change, and it also means that nothing is pointing towards you having HIV. You need to stop examining your body and Googling symptoms because it is a waste of time and will just make you more anxious.
You have to wait 28 days for a duo test for diagnosis. Try to relax until then.
