It is Visually Evoked Potential and it checks to see if a light flash to the eye is conducted to the back of the brain (occipital lobe) where sight occurs and if the transmission occurs at the same speed in each eye. Often used as a test for retrobulbar optic neuritis where the inflammation is behind the eye cannot be seen.
