Can caffeine cause gastritis?

Hi there. I have had gastritis for over a year now. One night I was drinking diet coke. During that week I was drinking lots of diet coke, much more than I usually do. Anyway as I was drinking it at one point it felt like I swallowed an ice cube and my throat locked up. Also known as globus sensation. Since then my throat has gotten better although it is still hard to swallow. My main problem I have developed is a 24/7 breathing problem. I had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with chronic gastritis. I don't believe it's chronic though as I don't have any gastritis symptoms at all. It's mainly a bloated breathing problem. I really don't have any discipline to follow diet and caffeine restrictions. Looking for advice. Could eliminating caffeine help me? Could I feel a difference within weeks? Thanks.

I don't know if it causes it specifically but I definitely know it increases it.  Coffee and soft drinks both make my gerd worse.  Try eliminating it and see if it helps!
