Chief Justice Roberts transfers Kavanaugh misconduct complaints to 10th Circuit

(CNN)Chief Justice John Roberts said in a letter on Wednesday that he had transferred judicial misconduct complaints related to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Judicial Council of the 10th US Circuit Court of Appeals for further review.
Although the complaints were originally lodged with the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Kavanaugh's former court, the circuit executive of that court asked Roberts to transfer the matters to another circuit out of a "concern that local disposition may weaken public confidence in the process."
The complaints relate to testimony that Kavanaugh gave last month during his confirmation hearings, according to a source familiar, and do not pertain to his conduct as a sitting judge.
In a letter addressed to Judge Timothy M. Tymkovich, the chief circuit judge of the Denver-based 10th Circuit, Roberts said he had selected the court to review the identified complaints and "any pending or new complaints related to the same subject matter." Tymkovich can handle the complaints himself, dismiss them or appoint a special committee to examine them.
According to the Rules for Judicial-Conduct and Judicial-Disability Proceedings, any person may file a misconduct complaint against a federal judge in the circuit in which the judge sits.
In his letter, Roberts referred to more than a dozen complaints that had been filed between September 20 and October 5.
Last weekend DC Circuit Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson mentioned the complaints in a news release. She said they "do not pertain to any conduct in which Judge Kavanaugh engaged as a Judge."
"The complaints seek investigations only of the public statements he has made as nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States," she wrote in the release. According to a source familiar, Henderson dismissed some allegations because she found they lacked sufficient evidence but chose to forward others along.
Tymkovich is a George W. Bush appointee who is on Trump's Supreme Court short list.

Does anyone feel like it is already old news and on to the next fight? I have still felt the supreme court judges try to be air so am not sure I agree that it is tainted in that way but agree that Kavanaugh acted like a spoiled child with immense arrogance to boot. And that Trump apologized to him for what he was put through . . . hard to swallow. I will say that threats against his daughters and wife were horrible and uncalled for though.

I think it was already old news the minute Susan Collins stood up to give her speech because it was pretty obvious that she was going to announce that she would vote yes to the confirmation would be a done deal... End of subject and on to the next topic of interest.
Unfortunately, I do feel that the Supreme Court is tainted because I don't feel that he will be a fair and impartial judge, therefore the cases that come before the justices will not be decided properly... of course, that's just my opinion...
I agree that the threats to his wife and daughters were unfortunate, but I do feel that he was partially responsible and I can't help thinking about Dr. Ford who, last I heard had still not been able to go home because of the death threats.

My last comment makes it sound like threats are okay - they aren't. It's not acceptable to threaten anyone as was done to both Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford, so I didn't mean make it sound like "*** for tat" was okay...

The Court has become so partisan that the notion that our justice is blind is just plain silly. Having said that - I think this guy is horrible!

Hello to my ole friends Mike and Specialmom. I hope life is treating you well. It looks like we're in pretty much agreement on the choice of Judge Kavanaugh. The only thing I didn't like is the route used to try to block him. It did rekindle an old interest in repressed memories and how unreliable they are. If it,s true that Dr. Ford still can't go home, I lay that blame at the feet of those that used her, then kicked her to the curb. Both me and my wife couldn't beleive that someone that was to be appointed to the highest court in the land,thought bringing his family (in the begining) was a good idea. I hope this makes since and is saying what I'm trying to say. I've had a couple of bad days. I feel fine but my mind is jumping all over the place and Iwill try not to post when going through thes times. This will pass in a day or so. I'm not saying this for simpathy, but to explain that some times I might change subjects in the middle of a sentance. If I do, feel free to point it out and I will try to correct it. Also feel free to disagree with me. Barb, I didn't meen to highjack your post, I just feel the need to explain myself. I will be back in a day or 2. It really is great to see ya'll. Ricky.

Wondering if any of this will ever be forgotten about Kavanaugh. We forgot about the (well, we remember it happened but it has no impact now) Clarence Thomas and his scandal. But this was such a dramatic process that it feels forever tainted.

I doubt if anything of will come of these complaints either because Tymkovich isn't so different from Kavanaugh... His thoughts may be in the category of "There but for the grace of G-d, go I"...
The Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill debacle was mentioned quite a few times during the Kavanaugh hearings, so it seems as though people haven't really forgotten as we might think. I, personally, feel that the Supreme Court is tainted beyond anything it's ever been. We've always known that Presidents nominated judges that thought they way they do and tried to tilt the court a certain way, yet the judges did try to maintain a certain decorum... Kavanaugh simply came right out and accused the Democrats of a political hit against him for Clinton losing the election, even threatening the Democrats with "What comes around comes around."
I'm pretty middle of the road when it comes to politics, but when somebody says things like that, I pretty much figure they're going to be on the look-out for certain things and might possibly go out their way to vote against certain people. I suspect that Judge Kavanaugh will be anything but impartial and will probably be ready to butcher the constitution at the first chance he gets...
IMO, the best thing he could have done to preserve the integrity of the Supreme Court would have been to step away and let someone else take his place...

IMO, is, he couldn't step down even if he wanted to0. That would have made him look guilty and it would make the Dems think there is Power in Bullying. I hope you're wrong about The Supreme Court being tainted but to be honest, I don't have a good feeling about him either. I guess poor Dr. Ford and the others that they cared so much about, will be swept under the rug since they are no longer needed. On to the next shiny thing to hold our attention for a few days.
The best thing he could have done is said he didn't remember anything happening, that he did indeed drink while younger but has changed and most importantly that he was sorry for his accuser's pain. He didn't have to admit guilt but he could have shown some compassion while taking the high road. Instead, he did something that if he was a woman, would have been called, acting hysterical.
Hey, OH - it's good to see you back. Your thoughts are along the same lines of something I posted in another thread about this. He could easily have made an "apology" of sorts without admitting guilt but not only showing compassion for his accuser but all women who have suffered some sort of sexual assault.
I totally agree that his behavior was what would have been considered hysterical if such a performance had been enacted by a female. Can you imagine the lack of credibility that would have given to Dr. Ford had she behaved in a similar manner?
