Why do I have lower back, abdominal, and joint/bone pain ?

Can anyone assist ? Just over two weeks ago, I went to bed, and my lower back (and upper buttocks area) felt quite uncomfortable, and somewhat painful. Over the next few days, the discomfort continued, and I started getting abdominal pain too. My pelvic joints also felt uncomfortable. I visited a doctor, and he suggested that it may be a spastic colon, but the prescription medicine didn't help. An ultrasound also showed nothing out of the ordinary. Since then, I still get stomach aches, and  back pain. My joints have also started to ache. Such aching occurs in my knees, somewhat in my elbows, and especially in the bottom of my heels. The Achilles tendon area also aches somewhat. I've taken chondroiton and glucosamine for two days now, but there are no improvements. Other medication which didn't help, included bevispas (Mebeverine), Aleve (Naproxen), and Librax. I'm a 31 year old male, and have no idea what it wrong. Can someone assist with a diagnosis ?

Hi Wesley! Sorry you haven't been feeling your best. First of all, none of us can diagnose you online. We can help provide guidance in questions you can ask your healthcare provider. You could of had a virus, although your symptoms should be starting to wane. First let's talk about your stomach. You mention abdominal pain, but most of your symptoms seem related to your joints. Did you present to your doctor with the chief complaint of abdominal pain? Where is the abdominal pain? Are you having any symptoms regarding your GI tract other than abdominal pain, like diarrhea, constipation, gastric reflux, nausea or vomiting? If your joints continue to ache it would be wise to request your doctor run a rheumatology panel. Generally speaking taking a medication for a couple of days is not always the best indicator of how it will work for you, and most medications need some time to actually get in your system. While US is great for diagnosing abdominal pain, they are only looking at your gallbladder, liver, kidneys, spleen and pancreas. It is great to rule all of those out, but it also leaves a lot to be determined. Also, any abdominal pain below your belly button would not have been identified with an US of your abdomen. I would definitely try some very gentle home exercises and stretching. If your symptoms continue I would circle back with your healthcare provider, get that rheumatology panel and other lab work, and be able to provide any triggers that make your pain worse. All the best!
