Distorted sense of smell after cold - steroids & antibiotics not helping

After a bad cold, I was left with some loss of and distorted sense of smell and taste, sort of like pungent sour milk. Mild sinus symptoms, right nostril mildly stuffed. ENT said it's a mild case & saw a bit of mucus, prescribed prednisone & antibiotics. However, I'm almost done with the course for both and NO CHANGE. What could this be, and is there hope that this will clear up if it hasn't already? Please help!

People can also get mold in their sinuses, though that is not at all common. Definitely if the meds you are on don't make much of a difference, see an ear, nose and throat specialist.

One way doctors often know someone has a sinus issue is the smell they have in regards to their breath.  It can be strong and not always pleasant. I'd wait until you are done with the antibiotics before  you panic about this.  But . . .  do you ever use anything like Mucinex?  I have a son with chronic sinus issues due to allergies.  He can get this bad breath smell and he will use Mucinex for a couple of days and it is then gone.  Something to do with mucus clogging--- the Mucinex thins it and it moves again.  Ask your doctor but this might help.
