Anyone else have Metabolic Syndrome?

BCKR2015External User
I was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and high insulin. I have PCOS and am insulin resistant. Does anyone else have this? I'm really scared I'm going to die. I am only 27. I've started losing weight and taking medication to help but I am still really scared.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  We are sorry you are so frightened but remember, being diagnosed is the way that you can then turn things around as you are now aware there is a problem.  This is important to do in your case.  Work with your doctor on the best ways to do this.  Losing weight is essential most of the time and doctors supervision is important for that.  Metabolic syndrome is normally a result of being overweight and inactive.  Both of those are often within our control to make better.  I'm so glad to hear that you are working on this.  Here's information on Metabolic Syndrome.  https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/metabolic-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20351916

if you smoke, please quit.  That is very important.  Lose weight through proper diet choices, portion control and getting 30 minutes of physical activity daily (if your doctor approves you to do this). Also, try to manage your stress.

We're here to help in any way we can.  We also have a weight loss and dieting community with excellent members all trying to do the same of losing and maintaining a healthy weight. It's very supportive.  Please come back and let us know how it is going.
