after using peginterferon i had thyroid damage, i never developed autoantibodies or ultrasound abnormal results.i found out it is best not to treat subclinical hypothyroidism and my tsh slowly lowered from a pick of 9 to around 5 (max level of normal here).FT4 was slightly abnormal few times.i used t4 drug during peg treatment and for 1-2 years after that and it made a lot of side effects of hyperthyroidism.
TSH test cannot be used to diagnose hypothyroidism, they finlly published the study this year, only low ft4/ft3 can
so i suggest check autoantibodies, be sure vitd25oh is maximum range of normal to prevent autoimmunity and follow both ast/alt, thyroid, bones and kidneys during treatment
