First trimester ultrasound and blood work

Hello,
I had my ultrasound screening test and blood test for abnormalities done at almost 13 weeks. My ultrasound was normal ( 2.5 mm and presence of the nasal bones)but blood test showed high risk for down syndrome. ( they used the maternity 21 test)I refuse to do the diagnosis test.By the way, I'm 39 with 2 healthy small children. Any of you been in this situation before? What what the outcome? Thanks

Hi there!  I was older when I had my kids also and didn't do the diagnoses tests either. I think the tests certainly can have false positives. However, when reading about Maternity 21, the false positives are infrequent. Doesn't mean that your test is accurate but that it likely is based on statistics. What does your doctor say? I was fine with having my child and raising him or her no matter if there was such a situation. Are you in this same boat? I think being prepared is key though. Once you know from that blood test, I'd prepare. How are you feeling about this?
