Epilepsy and Hypothyroid Link Hope

I have had Epilepsy for four years now and have just been diagnosed with a hypothyroid yesterday. I was wondering the exact same thing, if maybe this was finally the answer. That maybe this was throwing the hormones off and causing my seizures. Alas, everything I'm reading says there's no correlation as well. I guess we both had hope that finally we would have something to point to and say "Thats it! Thats what's been doing it all this time!" and yeah, I'd rather deal with one thyroid medication than the constellation of anti-convulsants...now we got to deal with both!

This discussion is related to Thyroid causing Epilepsy?.

My 15 year old son has been treated for epilepsy for 2 years, which did not respond to any medications (5), on 3 at one time and still had seizures.  I began to see a pattern of seizures, requested a cardiac workup and they have discovered after a tilt table test that he has Neurocardiogenic syncope.  My son did have a history of migraines when he was little that suddenly stopped about the time we noticed absence seizure like activity.  I have been told by the cardiologist that migraines, fatigue are symptoms of NCS, and that the seizure meds with this condition probably has made it worse. Most people do just faint, but there has been neurological events recorded with tilt table test..  I have found material that recommends anyone that has seizures or fainting needs to have a cardiac work up as well as Neurolgical work-up. Search it (NCS with seizures) to find the info you need.  Thanks  Let me know what you thing...When do you have your seizures?

I have had hypothyroid since I was 12.  After my third child I started having seizures and the doctors realized that my thyroid dosage was way too high.  They reduced it and told me the seizures would stop.  Well, they have worsened, I pass out for hours, I have migraines that last 3-5 days and no one seems to know why.  My thyroid is functioning perfect and my weight is perfect.  I have had an mri, ekg, eeg and several other tests and nothing.  Does thyroid cause epiliepsy, I believe it can cause neuro problems and I believe it caused it with me.  Oh i am also 38 and have arthritis in every bone in my body.
