I just recently had a mammogram. They found what they called a lymph node.  After my second visit and ultrasound check, I was told that it was only a lymph node and "not to worry" but to come back for a re-check in 6 months.
In the meantime, my primary care doctor, who scheduled the procedure, also wants me to go to see a "breast surgeon!"  What is that about?
I told the nurse who called me that the results were simply a lymph node.
I am very angry that my doctor wants me to see a surgeon!
Does the surgeon know something that the radiologist doctor doesn't?

Hi,

What is your age? What symptoms are you having? Did you notice any lump on breast self examination? Why was the mammogram done?

You would have to ask for a copy of the mammogram and ultrasound reports . Do post them to us here if possible.

Also, talk to your doctor or surgeon about the type of biopsy procedure they are planning - the time taken and the recovery will depend on that. Whether it is a needle aspiration, Incisional biopsy, excisional biopsy, xray or ultrasound guided, etc?

Let us know what your doctor tells you and also if you have any other doubts.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

There are a few types of biopsies but one won't be done when you see the surgeon that day. He/She will no doubt examine you and also review your films and then a decision will be made as to a course of treatment. Seeing a lymph node isn't necessarily a bad thing ... if the lump was seen ONLY with the ultrasound it could very well be a cyst. Best of Luck to You.
